Thai Ambassador to Vietnam Urawadee Sriphiromya on July 15 led a delegation to pay a working visit to Hoa Binh province. The delegation was welcomed by Bui Van Khanh, Deputy Secretary of the Hoa Binh Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, as well as leaders of provincial departments, sectors and Da Bac district.

The Thai diplomat told the hosts about a project to improve living conditions for children and adolescences in Asia-Pacific, which was initiated by Thai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. The project has been implemented in Cao Son primary and secondary school in Da Bac district since 2006.

It aims to raise public awareness of the responsibility for improving the quality of life for children, ensuring students' balanced physical and intellectual development, and providing a suitable portion of green vegetables and meat, fish, and eggs for students' lunches at the school.

The project also focuses on teaching children with life skills and techniques in growing vegetables, along with knowledge in maintaining environmental hygiene to build the school with a green and clean environment. In addition to providing seeds, varieties and supplies, the project has sent school administrators and teachers to training courses in Thailand.

The Thai Ambassador expressed her delight at the efficiency of the project at the Cao Son primary and secondary school as well as its facilities, contributing to the local socio-economic development.

She said that her delegation hopes to explore the real situation of the project to report to the Thai Princess’s Office, thus launching more activities in the time to come.

The ambassador affirmed that after the visit, the delegation will introduce Hoa Binh to Thai tourists, so as increase the number of Thai visitors to Hoa Binh and vice versa.

For his part, Khanh asked the ambassador to convey his gratitude to the Thai Princess for her support to the project in the mountainous district of Da Bac. He pledged that the province will create the best conditions for activities of the project in the future.

The official expressed his hope that the Ambassador and the Thai delegation will encourage Thai businesses and investors to explore the potential and advantages of Hoa Binh, and support the enhancement of cooperation between Hoa Binh and Thai localities in the fields of investment, trade and tourism, thus contributing to expanding the partnership between Vietnam and Thailand.
