Hoa Binh province’s steering board for prevention and control of corruption and other negative phenomena recently held its eighth meeting to review its activities in January - September and how to carry out key missions in the remainder of the year.
The event was chaired by alternate member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Nguyen Phi Long.
During the nine-month span, the fight was implemented drastically, with Party Committees and Organisations as well as competent agencies making efforts to bring into full play the conclusions of the Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and head of the steering board and its work plan for 2024.
The steering board and its members conducted six inspections and oversight activities regarding anti-corruption efforts in various organisations. Throughout inspections, the Party Committees at all levels found out wrongdoings in 15 Party Organisations and 59 members, with disciplinary measures considered for five Organisations and 12 members.
Seventy administrative inspections and 105 specialised examinations were carried out in the period, detecting 204 organisations and 357 individuals committing economic wrongdoings of around 46.5 billion VND (1.83 million USD).
The provincial police’s investigation agencies took on and investigated 30 corruption cases involving 62 people. Total property losses in the cases neared 13 billion VND, with more than 9.3 billion VND recovered.
Concluding the meeting, Long asked members of the steering board to closely adhere to the work plan in 2024 and proactively carry out their missions while highlighting the significance to step up communications work to raise public awareness of the corruption fight.
It is necessary to enhance political and ideological education for officials, civil servants, and public employees to improve their revolutionary vigilance and repel the deterioration of political ideology, he said, stressing focus should be sharpened on the settlement of complaints and denunciations as well as the implementation of measures to drive back corruption and other negative phenomena.
Competent sides must coordinate with each other to expedite the verification, investigation, and settlement of corruption cases of public concerns, and to strengthen inspections and oversight in areas and activities that may easily fall into corruption, he added.
