Athletes competed in the crossbow
event at the 5th sport festival of Dan Ha commune (Ky Son district) in
2017.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Sau, Chairman of the communal
People’s Committee said despite difficulties in sport facilities and funding, with
great efforts and support from the Sport Festival organising board of Ky Son
District, Dan Ha managed to successfully organise the 5th sport festival in 2017.
The opening ceremony of the event featured a procession of 30 delegations,
including those from the armed forces, organisations, schools, and residential areas;
and the art and sport performance of nearly 100 primary and secondary students
in Dan Ha.
Competitions in the festival included volleyball, stick-pushing, athletics,
crossbow shooting, and tug of war, with the participation of over 600 amateur
athletes from 11 hamlets in the commune. The competitions were exciting and attractive,
creating connection among hamlets. The event became a great festival of the
people in Dan Ha commune.
A contestant, Nguyen Duc Ngoc from Nut hamlet
expressed his joy to attend the festival, saying that this is a good opportunity
for him and others to show their ability and passion for sport, and learn from experience
of each other.
In response to the campaign "The entire people take physical exercise following the
example of the great Uncle Ho” in connection with the new-style rural area building programme, all
hamlets have zoned out areas for building facilities serving sport and cultural
activities. With the motto "the State
and people work together", facilities for physical
exercise and sport activities in the commune have been nearly completed.
According to Mr. Bui Van Duy, a cultural official of the commune, all hamlets
in Dan Ha had cultural houses. However, only cultural houses in Dong Song, Dong
Ben, and Mo hamlets have wide area, with football fields and volleyball
courses.
Those in the remaining hamlets are narrow, failing to meet the demand of physical
exercise and sport of locals.
100 percent of hamlets have formed volleyball teams for men and women, and
football teams, which regularly practice every afternoon.
In addition, the commune also has a badminton club in Van Tien hamlet, a volleyball
club in May Giay hamlet, and a crossbow club in Dong Song hamlet.
In spite
of poor ground conditions for practice, villagers made use of vacant land areas,
or the yards of the communal People’s Committee and schools to hung volleyball and
badminton nets for daily practice, contributing to both improving their health
and enhancing unity among locals.
During holidays and anniversaries every year, the commune organises friendly
sport tournaments, attracting many competitors along with cheering crowds.
The sport movement in
Dan Ha commune has helped better the physical and spiritual life of locals, contributing
to successfully implementing the socio-economic development task. This year’s fifth
sport festival has brought positive impacts to help Dan Ha commune promote the
quality of public sport movement in the commune./.
