Lac Luong commune’s female Volleyball Team (on the left) won convincingly at the Yen Thuy District Volleyball Championship in 2021.

Mr. Bui Van Tien, a socio-cultural civil servant recalled: Everyone was excited by the achievement exceeding the expectations. When returning to the locality, the hamlets also held a festival to welcome the athletes. The rewards and the gifts encouraging the athletes were also very timely. In addition to the prize of 6 million VND, the sponsors also awarded an additional 6 million VND, the benefactors and the People donated more than 10 million VND. The members of both teams were directly rewarded.

Studying at the district’s ethnic minority high school and Yen Thuy B high school, however, when the tournament took place, 5 athletes who were evaluated as the promising ones were the children in the commune and they enthusiastically practiced, participated, and contributed to the results of the female volleyball team at the tournament. They are Bui Thi Ngan Ha, Quach Mai Huong from Thong Nhat hamlet, Bui Thi Xanh from Quyet Thang hamlet, Bui Thi Thanh and Bui Thi Thang from Luong My hamlet. Along with that, some children who work far away also temporarily put off work to join the volleyball team as a member.

The sports movements, especially the local volleyball, are strongly evaluated from the grassroots. Thereby, it has been discovering and fostering the typical and potential factors. In addition to maintaining hard volleyball, soft volleyball has grown widely, attracting the participation of more and more people from all walks of life. In 4 out of the 8 hamlets, volleyball clubs have been established. They include Thong Nhat, Luong Tien, Luong My and Quyet Thang. The outstanding factors, the typical athletes are Bui Van Thong from Luong Cao hamlet, Bui Van Minh from Luong My hamlet, Quach Thi Nhiet from Quyet Thang hamlet, Bui Thi Van from Yen Tan village…

The training activities, exchanges and competitions between the clubs and the hamlets are maintained monthly, quarterly and annually. According to Quach Tat Vo, the head of Luong Cao hamlet, usually, people in residential areas, regardless of boys, girls, young and old, go to the field to practice volleyball regularly twice a day, in the early morning and late in the afternoon. For the people working by hands, after each hard work in the fields, volleyball not only improves their health, relieves stress, but it also promotes the spirit of production and tightens the community solidarity. Only in the last few months, the movement of volleyball training and competition has temporarily subsided to implement the measures preventing and controlling Covid-19 epidemics.

Currently, volleyball is more and more loved and responded by the people in the commune, contributing to promoting strengths, creating a spread and promoting the local sports movement. Currently, there are 200 sports households, more than 2,000 people practicing sports regularly in the whole commune.
