According to the Deputy Director General, who is in charge of the General Department of Sports & Physical Education, Mr. Tran Duc Phan, the promulgation of the General Department's guidance on piloting the tournaments of high-achievement sports adapting to the new situation is due to the fact that "the athletes who practice for a long time but they can't take part in a competition, which will not be able to solve the psychological problem. The Department's Board of Directors has reported to the Provincial People's Committee to ask for the guidelines and orientations, and we have also worked with the provincial Department of Health about the health, the prevention and control of Covid-19 epidemics. However, we cannot organize it right in October as we need the most thorough and the safest preparation, and we have to move it to November”. For karate, the leader of this sports also said that although it was selected as the first pilot sports to be organized, however, due to the preparation work, the national championships in 2021 taking place in Thanh Hoa province can only be held in November. The leader of the karate has reported the plan to the leaders of Thanh Hoa province and is waiting for the opinions of the provincial leaders and the health sector to agree on the specific time.

On October 12, the General Department of Sports & Physical Education issued Official Letter 1362/TCTDTT-TTTTCII signed by the leaders of the General Department and it was sent to the provinces, the cities and the appropriate branches to guide the organization of the tournaments in appropriate conditions of the new normal time. Right after issueing the official letter, not only badminton and karate but other sports have also been planned to take place again. According to the General Secretary of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation, Mr. Le Tri Truong, the time to organize the second round of the national championship in 2021 is expected to take place from December 14 to December 25, however, the plan to organize the tournament depends on the scenario and the implementation of the host locality.
