In recent years, the movement of mass physical training and sports in our province has been strongly developing. The campaign "Everyone exercises following the great example of Uncle Ho” has spread widely, involving many engaging exchanges and competition activities.

Nowadays, it's easy to see people enthusiastically exercising in sports facilities, cultural houses, and parks. Everyone chooses their own form of exercise, which is suitable to their preferences, age, conditions, and health status. They include volleyball, football, badminton, cycling, traditional fitness exercises, folk dancing, and so on. The traditional sports are also being preserved and promoted.

As an active member of the movement of mass physical training and sports in Hoa Binh City, Ms. Nguyen Diem Quyen (Thai Binh Ward) says: "I am passionate about sports, especially badminton. I practice at Ngo Quyen Badminton Club. For me, physical training and sports play a very important role. The daily exercise helps improve health, maintain physique, stay active, and be more relaxed and optimistic”.

The launch ceremony for the campaign "Everyone exercises following the great example of Uncle Ho and the 2024 Olympic Day Run for the Public Health was organized from the levels from the province to district, commune, ward, and town, with the enthusiastic participation of nearly 80,000 people. This is a practical activity to promote and spread the spirit of regular exercise in the community, improving health, building a healthy lifestyle and cultural environment, and contributing to effective economic and social development in the locality.

To contribute to maintaining the movement and discovering talented "seeds” for the provincial sports teams, in recent years, the province has focused on organizing various sports competitions across different sports and groups. In the first six months of this year, the province has organized and co-organized eight sports tournaments with 38 district-level and 260 commune-level competitions, attracting nearly 42,000 athletes. The sports activities at all levels have created a healthy and beneficial playground, promoting the development of the movement of mass physical training and sports.

According to data from the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, there were over 309,000 people regularly practicing physical training and sports last year in the entire province (reaching 36.2%); nearly 60,000 sports families (reaching 27%); 836 physical training and sports clubs, and 475 physical training and sports instructors (all reaching 100% of the planned targets); and organized over 440 sports competitions from the provincial to the grassroots level, attracting over 76,000 participants. Among them, Lac Son District, Hoa Binh City, and Kim Boi District had the highest number of people and families regularly practicing physical training and sports. One of the significant factors promoting the development of the movement of mass physical training and sports in the province is the attention and support for infrastructure and training facilities. Recently, the appropriate authorities and units have actively built the sports facilities, and invested in equipment and tools for training. The province's sports teams have not only been strong in the movement but they have also achieved the notable success in several competitions. For instance, they won eight gold medals, three silver medals, and eleven bronze medals, ranking the third overall at the 13th National Sports Festival for the Ethnic Minorities, Region I, in 2023.

Along with the public investment in physical training and sports, the socialization of sports in the province has been developing in recent years. Nowadays, in most localities, especially in the city, there is a boom in sports services such as the artificial turf football, swimming pools, gyms, yoga, and aerobics. This gradually meets the increasing demand for sports among the people. Moreover, many businesses, units, and organizations have invested funds and participated in supporting and organizing various sports competitions from the provincial to the grassroots level.

The campaign "Everyone exercises following the great example of Uncle Ho”, attracting the wide participation from the people, has contributed to improving physical fitness, building a healthy cultural environment, fostering the community solidarity, reducing the social evils, and promoting the economic and social development of the province...
