As the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival is nearing, the agriculture and rural development sector in Hoa Binh province has implemented many solutions to ensure the supply of goods and stabilise the market.

Son Nam cooperative in Dong Tam commune (Lac Thuy district) boost production and breeding activities, ensuring the supply of Ngoc Han eggs to meet the market demand.

Bui Thi Lan, Director of Son Nam Cooperative, Dong Nhat village, Dong Tam commune, Lac Thuy district, said that the cooperative raises 5,000 Egyptian super egg chickens, supplying the market with about 3,000 eggs per day. To ensure supply for the Tet market, the cooperative has taken measures to ensure feed, regularly inspect, prevent and control diseases for chicken. Lan said the cooperative also worked and agreed with Viet Ecomos Farm Agricultural Products joint Stock Company in the Central Highland province of Dak Lak on cooperation in consuming chicken eggs, particularly during the Lunar New Year.

Agencies under the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development have developed plans to instruct localities and farmers to have proper production/business plans and actively seek markets for their agricultural products.

In 2023, the output of some agricultural products were high, meeting the market demand. Specifically, the province’s rice output was 22,100 tonnes, up 1.82% against the previous year, while the output of citrus trees (orange, tangerine, grapefruit) was 21,000 tonnes, and vegetables was 210,000 tonnes.

The province has 114,2000 buffalo, 89,140 cows, nearly 495,670 pigs, and over 8.6 million poultry. In 2023, the province’s total agricultural and forestry product export revenue reached 978.45 billion VND (40 million USD). Fourteen enterprises, cooperatives, and cooperative groups shipped abroad agricultural products, including bamboo shoots, pomelo, orange, tea, fresh farm produce, and porridge. Their main export markets include the UK, Taiwan (China), China, the EU, the US, Canada, Japan, and the Republic of Korea.

Nguyen Phuong Thuy, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Quality Management, said that besides ensuring proper supply of goods and agricultural products during Tet, authorities also pay much attention to food safety issues.
