Staying at a homestay instead of a hotel or hostel with available
facilities, visitors will experience "three together" as a family
member of the homestay – eat together, live together and work together. By
directly engaging in daily activities with the hosts, visitors will have the
wonderful opportunity to "live another life" completely.
Ha Thi Nhung - owner of homestay Thuyet Nhung in Hich 2
village, Mai Hich commune (Mai Chau district) prepares a neat and clean place
to serve tourists.
During his first trip to Vietnam, Michael T. John from Sydney, Australia chose Mai Chau as one of the "must-visit" destination along with other famous tourist sites such as Ha Long Bay, Hoi An, Da Nang, Phu Quoc, Nha Trang and Hanoi. To make a plan for his two-month tour of Vietnam, John spent much time searching for information and was excited with information of Mai Chau. He said delightfully: "I have travelled to many places around the world and often opted for homestay. For me, living with local people in their homes is a great way to get into the local culture and experience cultural tours in the right way. Mai Chau has many times introduced by prestigious magazines in the world as a cultural tourism destination that gives visitors interesting experiences. Therefore, I decided to come to this land and after three days of homestay experience here, I am completely satisfied with the decision."
Three days in Mai Chau were really memorable days
to Michael T. John and his friends joining the tour. They were very excited to
participate in activities with Mrs Thuyet and Ms Nhung at Tuyet Nhung homestay
(Hich 2 village, Mai Hich commune). Their day began in the early morning, when
the dew was dense and cold winds poured into when visitors opened the windows.
A simple breakfast was served with bamboo-tube
rice with sesame salt and tea cups. After that, both hosts and guests became ready
to work in the field. After trying the farmer's field work, visitors walked to the
nearby Xia stream to take the air.
You can choose any accommodation at Lac, Van villages
or a homestay in a village of Mai Hich, as wherever you are, you can easily
experience the most typical tourist products of Mai Chau with inter-village
tourism. Here, community-based villages are just a few minutes' walk from each
other. Among 138 villages of the district, only 15 engage in community-based tourism.
They are attempting to develop homestays to attract visitors. In one day, with
a bicycle, visitors can visit many places and explore their different values to
have a rich travel experience. In addition, up to now, Mai Chau has successfully
operated a walking tour. Destinations of the tour include the villages of Phuc
San, Dong Bang, Bao La, Pa Co, Cun Pheo, Pieng Ve, Na Phon, Xam khoe, Mai Hich,
Mai Ha and Chieng Chau communes. The combination of villages creates bright colours
of a harmonious picture of the tiny, beautiful and attractive Mai Chau valley./.
