(HBO) – The Standing Board of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) Committee of Hoa Binh province coordinated with the provincial Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and the People’s Committee of Hoa Binh city to hold a candle lighting ceremony at the Hoa Binh Campaign Martyrs’ Cemetery on July 26 evening to pay tribute to war heroes and martyrs. Hoa Binh province was one of the nine localities nationwide chosen by the HCYU Central Committee to live stream the activity.

The event was attended by Nguyen Phi Long, alternate member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Thi Cam Phuong, Standing Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Council; Nguyen Van Toan, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; Nguyen Kim Quy, member of the Standing Board, head of the HCYU Central Committee’s division for youth solidarity and Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Youth Federation; along with representatives of families of war invalids, martyrs, revolution contributors, members of the war veterans’ association, and 600 HCYU members.

At the Hoa Binh Campaign Martyrs’ Cemetery – the last resting place of 306 martyrs, officials and young people offered flowers and incense in tribute to the soldiers who laid down their lives during the struggle for national liberation.

To mark the 76th anniversary of the War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - 2023), young people across Hoa Binh province have joined hands with all-level authorities, sectors, units, and businesses to carry out a number of meaningful activities, including building and repairing hundreds of houses for revolution contributors; presenting gifts to thousands of war invalids and martyrs’ families, Heroic Vietnamese Mothers and other revolution contributors; cleaning up and improving the landscapes around martyrs’ monuments and cemeteries, repairing martyrs’ graves; lighting candles in commemoration of heroes and martyrs at all cemeteries and monuments in the province; and giving free health examination and medicine to war invalids, martyrs’ relatives, and other revolution contributors.

At the event, a musical programme was held in commemoration of revolution contributors while gifts were presented to 30 war invalids and families of other revolution contributors. Participants also lit candles and offered flowers on all martyrs’ graves./.
