At the event, generations of local police officers recalled the heroic tradition of the people’s police force over its 60-year history.

In the Doi moi (Renewal) period, police in Hoa Binh province made great breakthroughs and obtained enormous achievements. They have completed an admirable job of advising Party committees and administrations from the provincial to grassroots levels about the implementation of the Party, State and Government’s directives and resolutions on safeguarding security and order. They have helped uphold the great national unity, engage the entire political system in the "All people protect the Fatherland’s security” movement, firmly maintain political stability, curb the rise in crime, and maintain political security and social order and safety. Besides, the force has also ensured a good understanding of society, made precise forecasts, and stayed ready to respond to any circumstance.

Since 2017, the province’s police force has uncovered nearly 2,800 cases of social order-related crimes, detaining nearly 4,300 suspects and recovered over 51 billion VND (nearly 2.2 million USD). Cracking down on nearly 1,200 drug cases, they arrested 1,700 suspects and seized nearly 200 heroin bricks and 110,000 synthetic drug pills. The war on drugs has reduced crime. Also in decline are the numbers of traffic accidents, deaths and injuries, while much improvement was recorded in the State management of security and order.

Addressing the ceremony, Bui Van Khanh, Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, highly valued the achievements and dedication by generations of local police.

He emphasised that as the international and regional situation will remain complex in the time ahead, the public security force needs to make stronger efforts in every aspect to meet requirements in the new context. It must push ahead with law dissemination to raise public awareness of crimes and hostile forces, further engage the political system and people in security and safeguarding order. The force also needs to proactively make analysis and precise forecast situations as they arise, effectively advise local Party committees and administrations, improve the State management of security and order, and take proactive measures against crimes.

At the ceremony, 60 collectives and individuals with outstanding performance were honoured with commendations and rewards./.
