The Hoa Binh provincial People's Committee held a meeting on November 23 to review the organisation of the Hoa Binh Culture-Tourism Week 2024 and the second Da river Fish and Shrimp Festival.
Officials attended the meeting including Vice Chairman of the provincial
People's Committee and Head of the organising committee for the cultural week
Nguyen Van Toan; and Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee and
head of the organising board for the fish and shrimp festival Dinh Cong Su.

Department of Agriculture and Rural Development praise the collectives for
their efforts in organising the second Da river Fish and Shrimp Festival.
Speaking at
the closing
ceremony, Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism
Quach Thi Kieu said that the two events which took place from November 15 - 23
left a profound impression on local residents and visitors.
Within the framework of the festival, 112 booths
displayed Da river fish and shrimp products, agricultural and OCOP products,
drawing tens of thousands of visitors.
The organisers auctioned two locally-raised
specialty fish from Hoa Binh lake, getting 255 million VND (10,000 USD). A
fishing competition on Hoa Binh lake, aimed at promoting culture and the scenic
beauty of the lake, saw participation from many anglers, and 11 prizes were
awarded across various categories. Following the competition, the province’s
Department of Agriculture and Rural Development organized a fish release to
regenerate aquatic resources in the Da river.
Nguyen Huy Nhuan, Director of the provincial
Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, emphasised the success of the
Culture-Tourism Week and the fish and shrimp festival. He highlighted that the
activities promote the image and potential of Hòa Bình, showcasing the
beautiful natural landscapes, and the unique cultural heritage of its ethnic
minority groups in the province.
On this occasion, the Chairman of the provincial
People's Committee awarded commendation certificates to 15 collectives and 30
individuals for their outstanding contributions to the organisation of the two
events.
The Director of the province’s Department of
Agriculture and Rural Development also presented certificates of merit to 20
collectives and ten individuals for their contribution to the festival.
The 25th Party congress of the Lac Thuy district for the 2020-2025 term identified the development of industry, trade, and services as its top priorities to drive the shift of the economic structure towards increasing the proportion of industry and services while reducing the that of agriculture, thus contributing to creating a motivation for socio-economic development in the locality.

The cultivation of Dam Xanh fish (Bangana lemassoni), a unique fish species, has seen remarkable growth in Mai Chau district, thanks to its high economic value and effectiveness. Initially concentrated in Van Mai commune, farming has now extended to four other communes, namely Mai Hich, Mai Ha, Chieng Chau, and Son Thuy. These areas benefit from pristine underground water flowing from mountain crevices, providing ideal conditions for raising this specialty fish.
