(HBO) – In adaptation with the COVID-19 pandemic, authorities of Lac Thuy district have actively assisted firms, cooperatives and farming households in bringing farm produce to e-commerce sites Postmart.vn and Voso.vn, thus promoting agricultural and rural digital economy.
Red-fleshed dragon
fruits grown by Thanh Ha agricultural cooperative, Ba Hang Doi township, Lac
Thuy district are available on Postmart.vn.
Lac Thuy district is home to popular farm
produce inside and outside the province such as chicken, orange, goat, tea and
red-fleshed dragon fruits. Most of them are sold in supermarkets, restaurants
and clean food shops in cities and provinces such as Hanoi, Nam Dinh and Ninh
Binh. Amid the complicated COVID-19 pandemic, several inter-provincial coaches
suspended operations, forcing consumers to switch to online shopping.
Therefore, Vietnam Post’s Postmart.vn and Viettel Post’s Voso.vn helped
cooperatives and farming households sell goods and access more customers.
Deputy head of the district Office of
Agriculture and Rural Development Hoang Dinh Chinh said in October, the
district partnered with the provincial Post to open seven training courses on
bringing goods to e-commerce sites, with 350 trainees. In the near future, the
district plans to work with a branch of Viettel Post to open three training
courses for 150 trainees to bring goods to Voso.vn.
like other local farm produce, the three-starred
OCOP product red-fleshed dragon fruits by Thanh Ha agricultural service
cooperative in Ba Hang Doi township meet difficulties in consumption. But
thanks to instructions of Vietnam Post’s staff for its members, the cooperative
sold about three tonnes of dragon fruits on Postmart.vn at an average price of
15,000 VND per kg, higher than that for merchants by 3,000 – 5,000 VND per
kg.
Statistics showed that the district has so far
recorded 6,542 farming households, cooperatives and businesses that sell goods
on Postmart.vn. In October and November, Postmart.vn sold 4,000kg of custard
apples, 3,000kg of dragon fruits, 360kg of melons, 6,000kg of oranges and
167,000 eggs. Lac Thuy was considered the leading locality that brought farm
produce to e-commerce sites.
Director of Son Nam cooperative Bui Thi Lan said
via training courses, the Vietnam Post’s staff offered instructions to farmers
to bring products to Postmart.vn, from packaging to consumer support. Their
selling prices are more stable while more consumers place orders.
Chinh added that the establishment of more farm
produce consumption channels via e-commerce sites is a sound and indispensable
direction amid technological era. To maintain prestige there, sellers must pay
attention to product quality as well as transparent and correct information.
Competent agencies need to help farmer with skills related to e-commerce and
digital economy, from designing stalls to marketing and photographing.
