(HBO) - Establishments and cooperatives in Kim Boi district of Hoa Binh province have actively approached the market in various forms so that more people know about local products under One Commune One Product (OCOP) programme.
Son
Thuy longan of Xuan Thuy commune in Kim Boi district was exported to Europe
last year.
In 2022, Kim Boi district had two products taking part in the OCOP programme
and both of them were rated and recognised as meeting the 3-star standards by
the provincial People's Committee. They are Du Sang Dien pomelo of Kim Boi
Green Agricultural Cooperative and Hop Tien forest honey of Green Life
Cooperative. Up to now, the district has 15 products that are certified as
3-star OCOP products.
Nguyen Thi Minh Anh, Deputy Head of the Division of Agriculture and Rural
Development of Kim Boi district, said that as a locality with strengths in
agricultural development, OCOP products produced by establishments and
cooperatives are all quality agricultural products.
The district has encouraged establishments and cooperatives to
strictly follow the production process to ensure food safety and hygiene,
improving quality as well as innovating product designs so that the products
are welcomed in the market. It also coordinates with departments and agencies
to support establishments participating in trade promotion activities to
popularise products to customers.
Son Thuy longan is a case in point. In August 2022, longan produced by Son Thuy
Agricultural Service Cooperative was exported to the EU market. The result is
attributed to longan growers' efforts and persistence, the involvement of local
authorities, professional agencies and the companionship of businesses.
According to Bui Van Luc, Director of the Son Thuy Agricultural Service
Cooperative, currently, it is difficult to sell the product in the domestic
market so accessing new markets is an encouraging signal. It also helps raise
the awareness of farmers on the need to improve product quality in line with
the new period, he added.
Previously, Hop Tien commune had a main product, namely Thuong Tien honey,
which was mainly sold in the province. Last year, it had one more product -
Hop Tien forest honey – which was certified as a 3-star OCOP product.
Besides traditional sale methods, the cooperative has introduced products at
trade fairs in many provinces and cities, and promoted them on its fanpage.
Dinh Cong Thuan, Chairman of the Boards of Directors and Director of the Green
Life Cooperative, said that over the past time, the cooperative has actively
participated in trade promotion conferences in the Central Highlands provinces
and Ho Chi Minh City to introduce their products to more consumers.
Currently, OCOP products of Kim Boi district are highly appreciated and trusted
by customers. This is also the reason for establishment owners and cooperatives
to continuously improve designs and quality to create quality products.
In the coming time, the district will continue to promote the dissemination of
the OCOP Programme; provide financial support to help cooperatives and
establishments expand their production scale and improve product quality. It
will also work with relevant agencies to introduce OCOP products at fairs held
within the province and other localities.
