(HBO) - Vice Chairman of Hoa Binh People's Committee Dinh Cong Su held a working session with Bio-Tech International, an Irish company, on a project to develop concentrated cultivation areas and processing factories for moringa oleifera-related products in Cao Phong and some districts in Hoa Binh province.

Dinh Cong Su, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's
Committee holds a working session with an Irish company.
Rory O'Driscoll, Director of Bio-Tech International, said the company
has coordinated with Hoang Ha Huy Import-Export joint Stock Company to conduct
research on moringa cultivation areas with the application of high technology
and processing plants using advanced extraction techniques to export products
to Asian and North American markets.
It plans to implement the project on developing concentrated
growing area and a processing factory for moringa trees-related products in Cao
Phong and some districts in the province, he added.
Moringa oleifera is a drought-resistant plant that can survive
in different types of soil, including poor and barren ones. It grows well in
areas with altitudes of 2,000m or less, temperatures from -1°C to 48oC and
annual rainfall from 750 - 2,200mm, therefore, it is suitable for growing the
plant in the northern midland and mountainous regions.
The director of Bio-Tech International suggested the provincial
People's Committee allow the company to conduct a survey and collect more
information about expanding moringa oleifera growing areas that meet good
agricultural and collection practices of the World Health Organisation
(GACP-WHO) standards and apply high technology.
Anarea under moringa oleifera cultivation of between 5,000
and 25,000ha will contribute to preventing erosion and landslides, protecting
the ecological environment, reducing the greenhouse effect, enhancing
biodiversity, and promoting biotechnology development in Hoa Binh province as
well as stabilising livelihoods for people and developing local economy
sustainably.
Besides, the company will invest in a factory for the
production, preservation, processing, and extraction of moringa oleifera, which
covers 10ha. The project will involve about 8,000 - 10,000 local workers who
will undergo training in necessary skills.
Addressing the meeting, Su briefed participants about the
socio-economic situation as well as the province's development policy,
emphasing that the agricultural sector is one of the strengths of the locality.
He went on to say that Hoa Binh always welcomes businesses and organisations
to invest and work in the province, so it will create favourable conditions and
support investors who want to explore investment opportunities in the locality.

The lives of the ethnic minority farmers in Tan Lac district have gradually improved thanks to the new directions in agricultural production. This is a testament to the collective strength fostered through the professional associations and groups implemented by various levels of the district’s Farmers’ Union.
With the motto the "product quality comes first,” after nearly one year of establishment and operation, Muong village’s Clean Food Agricultural and Commercial Cooperative, located in Cau Hamlet, Hung Son Commune (Kim Boi district), has launched reputable, high-quality agricultural products to the market that are well-received by consumers. The products such as Muong village’s pork sausage, salt-cured chicken, and salt-cured pork hocks have gradually carved out a place in the market and they are on the path to obtaining the OCOP certification.
In the past, the phrase "bumper harvest, rock-bottom prices" was a familiar refrain for Vietnamese farmers engaged in fragmented, small-scale agriculture. But today, a new spirit is emerging across rural areas of Hoa Binh province - one of collaboration, organisation, and collective economic models that provide a stable foundation for production.
Maintaining growing area codes and packing facility codes in accordance with regulations is a mandatory requirement for agricultural products to be eligible for export. Recently, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hoa Binh province has intensified technical supervision of designated farming areas and packing facilities to safeguard the "green passport" that enables its products to access international markets.
