Banks in Hoa Binh province have proactively grasped local people and businesses' demand for cash to ensure sufficient supply in various denominations during the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.

Employees at VPBank Song Da guide customers to use self-service options, ensuring smooth transactions for customers as Tet approaches.

Since the beginning of January, there has been a significant surge in demand for small currency exchange for payment, consumption, and Tet lucky money, among others at the local Agribank branch, compared to normal days. In addition to securing cash reserves, the branch has developed plans and proposed full cash supply to meet the needs of individuals and businesses.

In recent times, commercial banks in the province have encouraged customers to use electronic banking services in line with the government's directive on cashless transactions. However, as Tet nears, the demand for small currency exchange from the public remains high.

Tran Thi Huong Giang, Director of VPBank Song Da, said that based on customers’ needs, the branch has proactively implemented measures to regulate cash supply and allocate human resources to ensure smooth and convenient transactions.

At this time, the demand for cash exchange, especially for small denominations, at VietinBank Hoa Binh has also increased.

It is noted that the State Bank of Vietnam has issued a circular on ensuring the safety of banking activities during the Tet holiday.

Accordingly, its branch in Hoa Binh has directed local credit institutions to effectively organise the regulation, circulation, and supply of cash, ensure security and safety of cash reserves, and step up crime prevention efforts.

A leader of the branch said it has ensured timely and sufficient cash supply in various denominations to meet the needs of credit institutions for payment, salary disbursement, and goods trading during the Tet holiday and of locals for daily expenditures.
