Over the past time, with various good and creative ways of doing, farmers' associations at all levels in Hoa Binh province have promoted their role as a bridge to help members develop the economy, reduce poverty, and effectively implement the new-style rural area building movement, thus contributing to giving a facelift to rural areas.

In recent years, many farmer
households in Yen Tri commune (Yen Thuy district) have invested in economic
development with the model of growing medicinal plants.
Da Phuc is an extremely disadvantageous
commune, with a very low starting point for new-style rural area construction.
With the consensus of the local Party committee, authorities and people,
including contributions by members of the Farmers’ Association, in early May,
the commune was recognised as a new-style rural area.
Truong Duc Han, Chairman of the commune
Farmers’ Association, said that in order for its members to respond to local
activities and contribute to building and completing new-style rural area
criteria, in recent years, the association has actively stepped up
dissemination to help them understand their roles and responsibilities in this
work. It has also regularly innovated contents and forms of activities to
attract more members to join this work. At the end of 2023, the commune
fulfilled all 19 new-style rural area criteria. The commune Farmers’
Association has built one model residential area and nine model gardens; and
developed and maintained two OCOP (one commune one product) products that meet
3-star standards.
Since the beginning of this year, member
farmers in the province have donated 10,210sq.m of land for rural roads; and
helped build and repair rural roads, dredge canals, and build one bridge and 12
mini garbage incinerators.
Along with dissemination work, every year,
the associations at all levels launch a production and business emulation
movement, which has created an atmosphere of labour and production competition,
and determination to increase the number of well-off and rich households and
reduce the number of poor ones, thus contributing to achieving the
income-related criterion.
Thanks to the new-style rural area building
movement, local farmers have had a clear change in production methods, towards
forming specialised farming areas, building effective economic models, and
applying science and technology in production, thus bringing about high
economic values.
Nguyen Thi Huong Hai, Vice Chairwoman of
the provincial Farmers’ Association, said that in the coming time, the
associations at all levels will continue bettering communication work to
encourage more members to join hands in building new-style rural areas.
According to data from the Hoa Binh Provincial Party Committee, the industrial production index for the first six months of 2025 is estimated to have increased by 20% compared to the same period last year. This marks the highest year-on-year growth rate for this period since 2020.
In the first six months of 2025, Hoa Binh province’s export turnover was estimated at 1.145 billion USD, marking an 18.11% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Import turnover was estimated at $ 804 million, a 17.15% increase, which helped the province maintain a positive trade balance.
The lives of the ethnic minority farmers in Tan Lac district have gradually improved thanks to the new directions in agricultural production. This is a testament to the collective strength fostered through the professional associations and groups implemented by various levels of the district’s Farmers’ Union.
With the motto the "product quality comes first,” after nearly one year of establishment and operation, Muong village’s Clean Food Agricultural and Commercial Cooperative, located in Cau Hamlet, Hung Son Commune (Kim Boi district), has launched reputable, high-quality agricultural products to the market that are well-received by consumers. The products such as Muong village’s pork sausage, salt-cured chicken, and salt-cured pork hocks have gradually carved out a place in the market and they are on the path to obtaining the OCOP certification.
In the past, the phrase "bumper harvest, rock-bottom prices" was a familiar refrain for Vietnamese farmers engaged in fragmented, small-scale agriculture. But today, a new spirit is emerging across rural areas of Hoa Binh province - one of collaboration, organisation, and collective economic models that provide a stable foundation for production.
Maintaining growing area codes and packing facility codes in accordance with regulations is a mandatory requirement for agricultural products to be eligible for export. Recently, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hoa Binh province has intensified technical supervision of designated farming areas and packing facilities to safeguard the "green passport" that enables its products to access international markets.
