In recent years, the Women's Union of Yen Thuy district has actively contributed to the implementation of the National Target Program on building new the rural areas. The Union's activities not only help raise awareness of environmental protection for the members, the women, and the people but they also contribute to improving the appearance of rural areas and improving the quality of life.


The Women's Union of Lac Luong Commune (Yen Thuy) and the local authorities are visiting a household waste incinerator model in Yen Tan hamlet.

 

Arriving in Lac Luong commune these days, we are impressed by the colorful flower streets stretching out. This is the result of the efforts of women in the movement "All people unite to build new rural areas”. The chairman of the Commune Women's Union. Ms. Bui Thi Ly says: "Every year, we proactively review and register the tasks with the Party Committee and the local authorities, choosing the environmental criteria as the starting point in each hamlet, then expand to the whole commune”.


Many outstanding models have been implemented such as One trash pit, One Tree, turning plastic waste into money, and trash-free flower route... These models not only clean up the landscape but they also raise the awareness of the environment protection for the local people.


Ms. Bui Thi Vien, a member of the women's union of Yen Tan village, Lac Luong commune, says: The union’s women always actively participate in the environmental protection activities, from maintaining the cleanliness of village roads and alleys to planting green trees, waste collection and treatment. Although these actions are small, they have created a big change in the appearance of the countryside, raising the community's awareness about environmental issues.

 

Ms. Bui Thi Dan, the Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Yen Thuy district says: "Every year, the Union's establishments register with the Party Committee and the local authorities to carry out at least one project, the practical work to build new rural areas and civilized cities”. Some typical activities include: Maintaining the environmental hygiene, cleaning, collecting, and treating waste, planting new flower routes and women's tree routes; constructing the project "Electrical lines to light up the countryside” with a total length of 2,510m, with a cost of 94.3 million VND, helping to improve traveling and living conditions for the people; the "Household waste classification and treatment” model, the "Household trash incinerator” model; Collecting scrap to raise charity funds... not only help protect the environment but they also the Union at all levels has deployed 5 models of "Clean house, beautiful garden” and 5 models " The family with 5 yes, 3 clean”, contributing to improve the quality of life and building the civilized, clean and beautiful families.

 

The efforts of the Women's Union in Yen Thuy district have brought impressive results. During the past half term, the Union at all levels successfully organized the contest "Propaganda of the National Target Program for Building New Rural Areas” and the contest "Green Trees, blooming roads”. Thereby, it helps to raise the awareness and emulation spirit of the members in joining hands to build new rural areas. Notably, all levels of the Union have contributed effort and materials to the infrastructure construction projects such as: the women members participated in building roads and pouring concrete for communal cultural houses with a total contribution value of 425 million VND; Supporting the construction of 80 hygienic latrines, improving the living conditions and hygiene for the households.

 

11 out of the 11 Union facilities have helped 488 households complete 8 criteria of the campaign "Building a family of 5 no, 3 clean/5 yes, 3 clean”. In addition, the Union's facilities have registered and implemented 52 projects related to the new rural construction, exceeding 8 projects compared to the set plan. The number of the households meeting the "5 no, 3 clean” criteria increased to 13,868 out of the 16,575 households, accounting for 83.6%, exceeding the target of 323 households.

 

Ms. Bui Thi Dan, the Chairwoman of Yen Thuy Women's Union affirms: "The practical activities have had a profound impact on the community life. The sustainable models such as "Nursery for plants and flowers", "The Blooming Roads”, "Women Protecting the Environment”, and "Women's Row of Trees” not only improve the landscape but they also create positive changes in the people's awareness of environmental protection”.

 

In the coming time, Yen Thuy District’s Women's Union will continue to promote new rural development activities, with the goal of contributing to building the comprehensive, civilized, and sustainable rural development; constantly improving the quality of the emulation movements, and at the same time seeking more creative solutions to improve the quality of life for the women and the families in rural areas.
