These days, alongside the national healthcare sector, the staff, doctors and nurses of Hoa Binh Provincial General Hospital are engaging in the meaningful activities to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Vietnamese Doctors' Day (February 27, 1955 – February 27, 2025).
The hospital's medical staff are continuously improving their expertise to meet the growing demand for the medical examinations and treatment, ensuring the patient satisfaction.
Recently, the hospital’s Youth Communist Union launched the "Eternal Gratitude to Uncle Ho Tree-Planting Festival” for the Lunar New Year of 2025 (At Ty). This annual event attracts many staff members and union members, helping to enhance the hospital’s green, clean and beautiful landscape. The planted trees not only contribute to aesthetics but they also improve air quality, creating a fresh environment for the patients, their families and healthcare employees.
Mr. Nguyen Hoang Dieu, the Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the General Hospital, emphasized that the hospital staff have been actively participating in the emulation movement "Hoa Binh Health Sector – 70 Years Following Uncle Ho’s teachings.” This occasion is an opportunity to reflect on President Ho Chi Minh’s profound teachings, reinforcing each medical employee’s sense of responsibility and their commitment to upholding the noble tradition of "curing diseases, saving lives.” It is also a reminder of the guiding principle in the healthcare sector: "Doctors are like kind mothers” – a motto shaping every action in the health sector.
Following President Ho’s teachings, the General Hospital has made great strides over the years, overcoming challenges to become a modern and well-equipped medical facility. Today, the hospital is recognized as a clean, spacious, and advanced healthcare center. It continuously invests in and upgrades modern medical equipment, including automated blood analyzers, coagulation analyzers, blood storage and preservation systems, syntax cell counters, fully automated biochemistry analyzers, CT scanners (64-slice and 32-slice), 1.5 Tesla MRI machines, 4D color ultrasound machines, electrolyte analyzers, mechanical ventilators (Bennet 840, Drager V600, GE R860), bone densitometers, laparoscopic surgical systems, endoscopic devices for ENT, digestive, and urinary procedures, defibrillators, digital subtraction angiography (DSA) systems, cardiac ultrasound machines, temporary pacemakers, SPECT/CT scanners for cancer diagnostics. Thanks to these advancements, the hospital has consistently exceeded its annual medical examination and treatment targets, reaching 120–130% of the assigned plan.
Initially designed with 520 beds, the General Hospital has expanded to 850 planned beds and over 1,000 actual beds. Its workforce has grown from 500 staff members in 2004 to 838 today, operating across 45 departments. The hospital boasts a highly qualified team, including 4 medical doctors (PhD), 26 Level II specialists, 58 Level I specialists, 6 master's degree holders, 1 resident doctor, 141 general practitioners, the skilled and experienced nursing staff. The General Hospital has successfully implemented 1,037 advanced medical techniques typically performed at the central hospitals. Some notable procedures include brain tumor removal (midline and hemispheric tumors), spinal cord tumor excision, spinal surgery and skull reconstruction, extracorporeal and endoscopic lithotripsy, cosmetic surgery for the head, face, neck, and torso, various laparoscopic surgeries (general, obstetric, ENT, kidney cyst removal, liver cyst removal, etc.), cardiovascular diagnostics and interventions, pancreaticoduodenectomy, complex fracture surgeries, gastrointestinal cancer laparoscopic surgery, radiation therapy for cancer patients… The complicated cases that previously required the referral to the central level are now treated at the hospital, helping to reduce the load on the higher-level hospitals and reduce costs for the patients and society.
Especially, since January 1, 2023, the General Hospital has officially transitioned from paper medical records to electronic health records, becoming the 38th out of. The 135 class-one hospitals nationwide to implement this system successfully. This milestone enhances the hospital record management, simplifies the administrative procedures, and saves time, costs and human resources—an important goal for many hospitals across Vietnam.
The relentless efforts of the General Hospital’s staff have been recognized with the numerous awards from the Ministry of Health, the Provincial People's Committee, and the Department of Health. The hospital has consistently been honored as an "Outstanding Comprehensive Hospital,” receiving the Provincial People’s Committee Emulation Flag (2022), the Prime Minister’s Emulation Flag (2023), a Certificate of Merit from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (2021)…On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Vietnamese Doctors' Day, many individuals of the General Hospital have been awarded the prestigious title of "Distinguished Physician" and Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister (2024).
The emulation movement "Hoa Binh joining hands to build new-style rural areas” has been widely spreading, becoming a driving force that motivates the localities to renew rural landscapes and improve the material and spiritual lives of the residents. In this movement, the people play a central role-both as the main implementers and direct beneficiaries of its outcomes.
