In recent years, the education and training sector of Hoa Binh province has achieved notable accomplishments, with a strong focus on spearhead education, which has yielded significant results.

Students of Hoang Van Thu High School for the Gifted always strive to study to achieve high results in excellent student contests at national and provincial levels.

With an approach that emphasises both spearhead and comprehensive education, schools in the province have not only maintained the quality of general education but also prioritised nurturing gifted students, contributing to the building of a high-quality workforce for the province.

In 2023, up to 9,312 students in Hoa Binh—accounting for 99.31% of candidates—passed the National High School Graduation Exam, placing the province 41st out of the 63 provinces and cities. In 2024, the province improved its ranking to 36th nationwide. The average score across all subjects reached 6.52, up 0.19 points from 2023, with 191 perfect scores of 10 recorded.

For years, Hoang Van Thu High School for the Gifted in Hoa Binh city has been a flagship institution in spearhead education. Its teachers are dedicated to continuous self-study, research, and innovation in teaching methods tailored to student needs. The school’s students consistently form the backbone of the provincial team and have achieved outstanding results in national competitions for excellent students.
In the National Excellent Students Contest for the 2023–2024 academic year, Hoa Binh students won 41 prizes. Of these, 38 were earned by students from Hoang Van Thu High School for the Gifted, including one first prize, four second prizes, 12 third prizes, and 21 consolation prizes. These accomplishments are especially significant for a province that is still facing challenges in educational development.

In the National Excellent Student Contest for 2024–2025 academic year, 77 students from Hoa Binh participated, with 41 receiving awards, accounting for 53.2% of the total contestants. Among them, 40 students were from Hoang Van Thu High School for the Gifted, and one was from the Provincial Boarding High School for Ethnic Minorities. The province secured four second prizes in History, Literature, Chemistry, and Russian—all won by students from Hoang Van Thu—along with 11 third and 26 consolation prizes.

These achievements reflect the dedication and hard work of both teachers and students. They also demonstrate the strong leadership and direction from provincial authorities and the education sector, the innovation of schools, and the care and support provided by families and society for educational development.

Director of the Department of Education and Training Nguyen Ngoc Diep said that these accomplishments represent a significant milestone, affirming the quality of spearhead education in the province and laying a solid foundation for continued improvement in educational outcomes and intellectual resources.

To further enhance spearhead education and nurture talent, the Hoa Binh education sector has implemented a series of strategic measures aligned with the province’s broader education and training development goals. These efforts aim to steadily improve the quality of human resource training and talent development.
Since early 2025, the department has advised the provincial People’s Committee on amending a resolution that outlines specific policies for teachers and students of high schools for the gifted, as well as policies for experts, teachers, and students involved in training provincial teams for national, regional, and international academic competitions.
In addition to infrastructure investments and efforts to improve the quality of teaching staff, the education sector is also taking proactive steps to strengthen discipline in teaching and learning—regarded as a key factor in improving the quality of spearhead education across schools.

Building on these achievements, schools and educators throughout the province continue to foster a culture of academic excellence, support student development, and strive for even greater success in the years ahead.
