These are the results of the model of day schools for Ethnic Minority students in the particularly difficult region and are being built by the province.
The facilities of Doc Lap Junior high & High day schools for Ethnic Minority students in Ky Son have been built spaciously and are well met the requirements of teaching and learning.
According to the statistics of the Department of Education and Training, there are 13 Ethnic Minority Schools, 13 day schools for Ethnic Minority students. Out of them there are 2 primary day schools for Ethnic Minority students, 5 junior high day schools for Ethnic Minority students and 6 Junior high & High day schools for Ethnic Minority students. The system of day schools for Ethnic Minority students has been expanded in size and upgraded in terms of facilities. The schools have coordinated with the Military Staff Committee of the districts and the city to carry out the internal affairs, paying attention to the feeding and the accommodation for the students. They have ensured the preferential regimes and policies for students under preferential treatment policy, students of ethnic minority and mountainous areas, students in particularly difficult socio-economic regions, creating opportunities for disabled students.
Evaluating the effectiveness of day schools for Ethnic Minority students in the province, Mr. Bui Trong Dac, the Director of the Department of Education and Training affirms that the establishment of the day schools for Ethnic Minority students has shown a completely correct policy. Beside implementing the knowledge teaching in accordance with the regulations, the schools have been paying much attention to training students with basic skills such as communication skills, cooperation skills, self-service and behavioral skills. They have also been paying attention to training the students according to the standards of knowledge and skills of the subjects, classes and levels in a sustainable way.
At the same time, a lot of group activities, extracurricular and club activities have been organized to help students improve their life skills. 100% of students from ethnic minority day schools are allowed to study twice a day in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training. Thereby, the schools have conditions to carry out the main teaching tasks, fostering the excellent students, tutoring the weak ones and increasing the amount of guided self-study time. A special importance has been paid to fostering knowledge for students who are going to take the transition exam and a lot of activities have been organized to achieve the goal of comprehensive education and education reform.
