(HBO) - With his efforts in applying technology in teaching to help ethnic minority students learn about the 4.0 era, teacher Bui Minh Duc at Phu Luong Primary and Secondary School (Lac Son) has been named among Vietnam’s 50 outstanding teachers honoured in the "Sharing with teachers" programme in 2021, organized by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Federation in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Training and Thien Long group.

Duc was assigned to work at Thuong Coc Secondary School (Lac Son) from August 2016 - September 2019. During the 2016-2017 academic year, Duc gained access to the YouthSpark Digital Inclusion project, which aimed to strengthen information technology and computer science skills for Vietnamese children. After being trained, he developed a plan and shared it with students. One of the things he taught was Scratch programming. Initially, he taught a group of students, then a class, and the whole grade. He then selected students with logical thinking and programming skills to establish the school's IT Club. Whenever the project launched an IT Product Exchange Contest, Thuong Coc Secondary School always won high prizes.

In addition to Scratch programming, Duc flexibly integrated computer science applications into his teaching, thus helping students feel excited in each lesson.

At the end of September 2019, Duc was transferred to Phu Luong Primary School, now Phu Luong Primary and Secondary School. With the accumulated experience, he continues to teach computing for students at the new school. During the teaching process, he flexibly used Powerpoint and teaching support tools such as Wheelofnames in his lectures, in order to best convey the content of the lesson to each student. He also used Kahoot and Google form applications to test and evaluate students through multiple choice questions about the knowledge and content of each topic and each lesson.

In the 2020-2021 academic year, with the companionship of Dariu Foundation, a non-governmental organisation that supports teaching equipment and computer science skills, especially those involved in technology, Duc has taught programming to students in all grades; guided and developed contents and topics suitable to their ages and skills; organised fun activities related to programming; and established a programming club called "Green Microbit".

After more than five years working in Lac Son district, Duc continuously won many titles and received certificates of merit from the Director of the Department of Education and Training and the district People's Committee for his achievements in the "Innovation in teaching and learning" emulation movement. He also won the second prize in the provincial competition for excellent teachers in Informatics in the 2020-2021 academic year./.
