(HBO) - The upgrade and expansion of an intra-road in Pa Co-Hang Kia has been completed, serving socio-economic development in Mai Chau district in the northwestern province of Hoa Binh. More tourists travel to the locality as transport infrastructure improves, thereby bolstering the development of tourism services.

Many roads in Pa Co commune (Mai Chau district) are concreted to facilitate travel.

In places with more favourable locations like Mai Ha, Tong Dau and Chieng Chau, transport networks in rural and mountainous areas have been upgraded, with investment sourced from the national target programme on building new-style rural areas.

Last year, the district mobilised nearly 115.5 billion VND (5.06 million USD) for rural transport development. Of the amount, more than 17.1 billion VND was from the State budget, 63.2 billion VND from the provincial budget, and 33.9 billion VND from the district.

At present, Mai Chau has 602.91 km of rural roads, of which 50.77 km are asphalted and 366.11 km are concreted.

In 2021, the district built 5.5 km of new roads, one bridge and concreted an additional 24.8 km of roads.

Heavy downpours and landslides damaged some road sections, causing losses of 3 billion VND to Mai Chau in the year. Local residents joined hands with relevant agencies in addressing congestion as well as built and repaired roads in the celebration of the National Day (September 2).

Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Mai Chau Ha Trung Thao said it has viewed transport as a priority in its socio-economic development strategy, which received support from local people.

The district hopes to continue projects to concrete rural roads and give a facelift to transport infrastructure in the coming time, he added./.
