The Red Cross in Tan Lac district and the other charity organizations are presenting gifts to the poor in Van Son commune.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Tra, the Chairwoman of the district’s Red Cross says: "With the complicated developments of Covid-19 pandemics, Covid-19 cases are increasing, all aspects of social life have been affected, a lot of people have lost their jobs, the income has decreased, falling into difficult circumstances. Since the beginning of the year, the Red Cross has organized many practical and effective programs towards the grassroot level, supporting the disadvantaged and the poor in the locality. Besides, the movements and the models such as "Tet for the poor and victims of Agent Orange”, "Each organization and individual associates with a humanitarian address”, "The Humanitarian month”, building "The Red Cross” houses, giving cows, and health insurance cards have brought positive effects, which has encouraged and helped the poor to alleviate difficulties during the epidemic season.
With the role of a bridge in humanitarian activities, while the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic has lasted for a long time, the Red Cross at all levels have coordinated with other organizations and individuals to carry out activities such as presenting gifts, supporting money, rice, food, medical masks for the people with difficult circumstances, the unemployed, those who have been isolated to prevent and control Covid-19 epidemics. Since 2021, the district’s Red Cross has assisted 14,581 turns of people with a total value of over 3.1 billion VND. In which, the Red Cross has coordinated with Thien Tam Fund - Vingroup Group, the group of People's Happiness ... to give 645 breeding animals (cow, chicken, goat) and cash with the total value of over 320 million VND to the people in Ngoc My, Nhan My, Suoi Hoa communes, which has helped them have more sources of livelihood to overcome difficulties in life. Supporting those who have been affected by Covid-19 epidemics, the Red Cross and the District’s Benevolent Club have distributed rice and porridge for the poor patients being treated at the district’s health centers and in the isolation areas; they have mobilized 3.5 tons of pumpkin, 500 kg of peanuts, 21 kg of vermicelli, dozens of boxes of instant noodles with a total value of over 100 million VND to support the isolation areas.
At the same time, the Red Cross has collaborated with the Fatherland Front and other approprite authorities to cook rice, supporting over 5,000 sets of rice meals for the people in the isolation areas because of Covid-19 epidemics; they have coordinated with the district’s group of People’s Happiness to give 61 sets of gifts, totaling 12.2 million dongs; they have also coordinated with Thac Bo Cave Management Board to give 90 sets of gifts to the poor, the near-poor and the difficult households in Suoi Hoa commune, totaling 13.5 million VND.
Promoting propaganda and support for the prevention and control of Covid-19 pandemics, the red Cross has distributed 10,000 quick test strips, organized 2 mobile propaganda campaigns to the remote areas, reaching over 3,500 people, helping them to improve the ability to prevent the epidemics. From the resources of the organizations and the individuals inside and outside the area, since the beginning of the year, the Red Cross has built 13 houses for the poor households with a total value of over 1.3 billion VND; awarding 5 breeding cowsm with a total value of 75 million VND. Implementing the movement "Tet for the poor and victims of Agent Orange” in the Spring of the Tiger in 2022, the district’s Red Cross and all the levels and branches organized visits, encouraging and presenting gifts to 2,452 turns of people in difficult circumstances, totaling over 1.45 billion VND. The mobilization of resources carrying out the humanitarian activities in the locality takes place regularly.
Ms. Bui Thi Dan from Hay Duoi hamlet, Van Son commune says: "The prolonged Covid-19 epidemics has affected my family's income, and the output of the agricultural products has been in difficulty. Being given gifts in the program "Tet for the poor and the victims of Agent Orange victims” in the spring of the Tiger year in 2022 has encouraged and helped my family welcome spring more meaningfully”.
The humanitarian and charitable activities deployed by the district’s Red Cross have shown the concern of the organizations, the individuals and the whole society to the poor and the jobless during the outbreak of the epidemics. Thereby, it has been promoting the spirit of solidarity, the mutual affection in the community, joining hands to help the disadvantaged overcome the difficulties during the epidemic season.
