(HBO) – Around 54,300 local farmers have so far accessed loans worth nearly 2 trillion VND via trust services between the Farmers’ Association chapters at all levels and banks and more than 20 billion VND from the Fund in Support of Farmers.

Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Council Nguyen Thi Cam Phuong said support activities have attracted numerous farmers and improved the role of the Farmers’ Association in the cause of industrialisation and modernisation of agriculture and rural areas.

Thanks to effective support of the Farmers’ Association at all levels, farmers in Bung village, Huong Nhuong commune, Lac Son district bought high-tech egg hatching machines to improve their chicken farming efficiency.

The provincial Farmers’ Association has so far attracted 133,208 members in 1,968 chapters and 2,611 teams. The association helped farmers establish manufacturing areas with high economic value, notably orange orchards in Cao Phong and Lac Thuy, red-flesh grapefruit orchard in Tan Lac, longan orchards in Son Thuy, and organic vegetable zone in Luong Son. These are core values for the province to boost agricultural and rural development towards industrialisation and modernisation.

Each year, the Farmers’ Association chapters directly provide vocational training and generate jobs to around 300 farmers, partner with authorities to hold 70 vocational training courses for 2,200 members.

In the nine months this year, they provided members with roughly 2,500 tonnes of fertilisers of various kinds, 150 tonnes of plant protection medicine and 250 tonnes of seedlings on late payment, offered consultancies on labour export to 68 members, held 57 training conferences on the use of fertilisers to 3,135 members, raised 175,300 members’ awareness of legal regulations, and transferred four houses to those living in need.

Each year, chapters launch emulation movements among all units and member farmers, notably the movements "Farmers vie for high-yielding production and stay united for sustainable poverty reduction” and "Farmers join new rural development” which attract about 70,000 farming households each year. In order to facilitate farmers’ involvement in movements, chapters actively partnered with departments and agencies to rally resources to assist farmers in technological application, cultivation, trade and management. Nearly 54,300 farming households have accessed loans worth about 2 trillion VND via chapters’ trust services with banks and upwards 20 billion VND from the fund in support of farmers.

With a total capital of more than 24 billion VND, the fund in support of farmers offered loans to 123 projects, benefiting 1,723 farming households. In the nine months this year, 14 projects received disbursement. Chapters offered assistance to 35 newly-established collective economic models and adopted measures to spread citrus cultivation models and maintain operation of existing production inter-groups./.
