In Dong Se village, Nhuan Trach commune, Luong Son district, everyone knows the families of Bui Van Nhi and Hoang Hai Hoi as role models in donating land for the building of new-style rural areas. The road in Dong Se hamlet has been expanded and concretised, creating a vibrant rural picture, facilitating the exchange of goods and promoting local socio-economic development.

Road in Dong Se hamlet, Nhuan Trach commune, Luong Son district, is completed thanks to pioneering land donation from families of Bui Van Nhi and Hoang Hai Hoi (standing in the middle).

Nhi said in order to carry out the National Target Programme for New-Style Rural Development and help Nhuan Trach commune meet criteria for new-style rural areas and become an ward-level administrative unit by 2025, he fully understands the benefits and significance of investing in rural infrastructure, especially in building convenient rural roads for travelling and movement of goods, thus creating favourable conditions for local residents to earn a living. Therefore, his family discussed and decided to donate land for road construction.

During the land clearance and road expansion process, the People's Committees of the commune and Dong Se hamlet urged households to voluntarily donate land for road expansion. At the onset, many households disagreed. Despite the difficult circumstances and with a pioneering spirit and leading example as a Party member, Nhi persuaded members of his family and reached a consensus. They voluntarily donated nearly 100 sq.m of residential land along with some structures and assets on the land. This land was handed over to the construction unit for the project without any compensation or aid.

Similar to Nhi's family, Hoi's, though not rich and possessing valuable land in the area, voluntarily donated over 100sq.m of residential land along with assets and vegetables on it. This contribution was made to the construction unit to ensure the timely completion of the project, thus meeting travelling need of the local people.

According to the Luong Son district People's Committee, Nhi and Hai families always follow the Party's policies and guidelines, State laws and regulations. They have not violated any laws or submitted complaints or accusations. They have contributed to reducing the State budget spending, expediting the progress of road construction in Dong Se village, and creating a positive effect for other families to follow suit by voluntarily donating land for the project.

The provincial People's Committee issued a decision to recognise the actions of donating land for road construction for new rural development programme by Nhi and Hoi families as provincial role models for 2023.
