In the context that apart from farming, most local women had no extra work to raise their income, and with her own experience in handicraft, Tien decided to bring weaving to her hometown in 2018, benefiting over 40 women and outside the commune, who earn from 1.5 to 5 million VND (59.08-196.94 USD) per month.

Weaving is not a hard work, but it requires carefulness, meticulousness, perseverance, and diligence, said Tien, adding at first, she spent time encouraging local women to pursue it to earn extra income.

Among the participants is Bui Thi Van, 34, from Lang hamlet, Lac Thinh commune, who was born deaf and mute. Since joining Tien’s model in 2019, Van has felt more confident and can earn about 4 million each month.

Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Lac Thinh commune Nguyen Thi Minh Huyen said over the past years, the union has always focused on job generation, with Tien setting a bright example for others.
