(HBO) - Da Bac is one of the most difficult districts in the province. The district area is large, the population is distributed unevenly, and the traffic is difficult. However, the district has made great efforts to complete and exceed the targets in the local physical training and sports movements.

Despite the limitation of the operating
costs, the lack of facilities and equipment, Da Bac district always focuses on
developing the sports and physical training movements at all levels, considers
this as an important task to improve the spiritual life of the people and
create the community engagement. The district regularly organizes sports
tournaments during the holidays, Tet, major events of the country and locality.
At the grassroots level, the district encourages the communes to develop the
movements, organize tournaments with the popular sports such as football and
volleyball. Traditional sports such as crossbow shooting, stick pushing, tug of
war often attract a lot of people to participate. In 2017, the district
organized 8 district sports tournaments and 6 commune level sports tournaments.
Many units have done well these movements of physical training and sports, such
as Da Bac town, communes of Toan Son, Dong Chum, Yen Hoa.
In order to develop the sports and physical
training movements, Da Bac district is interested in investing in strong sports
such as marathon, athletics, table tennis, badminton. In the past year, the
district has participated in seven sports organized by the province, won 12
gold medals, 10 silver medals, 8 bronze medals; 32 are at the athlete
levels. Da Bac has left a deep
impression for the audience in the traditional marathon cup of Hoa Binh
Newspaper. Despite of responding to the historical flood which took place in
early October 2017, it did not affect the competing spirit of the athletes on
the runway. With the spirit of winning determination, the sports team of Da Bac
district won the first prize of the team with 46 points far ahead of the second
prize. This is the fifth time in a row Da Bac won the trophy at the traditional
marathon cup of Hoa Binh Newspaper.
In addition, the district has a lot of
activities to promote the physical training and sports movements, such as
opening gifted classes, establishing a sports club which is implemented
synchronously, contributing to improving the training quality and performance
achievements of athletes. Some clubs such as 30/4 Table Tennis Club of Toan Son
commune, Table Tennis Club of the town, Badminton Club of the District Party
Committee, 20/11 Badminton Club of Da
Bac High School have trained many excellent athletes for the district. At
present, there are 36 sport clubs in the district established by the decisions
of the district People’s Committee, the communes and the town. The activities
of the clubs take place regularly and continuously, actively exchange and
compete to rub and improve professionalism in sports.
The remarkable point of the sports in Da Bac
district in 2017 is the successful organization of the 6th Sports and Physical
Training Competitions. The Festival attracted more than 1,300 athletes from
communes and town with 8 subjects. By this, the district has selected the best
athletes to participate in the 6th Sports and Physical Training Competitions of
Hoa Binh Province in 2018.
Mr. Do Viet Cuong, Director of Culture and
Sports Center of Da Bac district shared: The sport movements of the district
always received the attention of the Party Committee and the local authorities.
The key sports are invested, mass movements of sports and physical training is
maintained and promoted. The work of socialization of physical training and
sports activities has received the support from the local people. Currently, in
most of the villages and local residences, there are land funds for sport and
physical training activities. The people actively contribute to the
construction and repair of training grounds. As a result, the movements of
physical training and sports in the people have been increasing. In 2017, in
the whole district, there are many regular athletes; there are number of people
who have achieved physical training regime; 2,800 sports households all
achieved 100% of the plan.
In recent years, Lac Thuy district has paid increasing attention to investing in cultural and sports infrastructure. These grassroots facilities have attracted a large number of residents to participate in recreational and cultural activities, physical training, and community engagement, contributing to the development of cultural life and the local socio-economic growth.
In recent years, the mass physical training and sports (PTS) movement in Hoa Binh province has developed strongly and spread widely. Regardless of age, gender or occupation, people actively participate in physical training, creating a vibrant and enthusiastic sports atmosphere within the community.
Recently, Hoa Binh’s athletes have continued to show strong performances at national-level competitions. Alongside elite athletes, several standout performers have emerged from grassroots sports movements, underlining the province’s growing sports culture.
From April 26 to 27, at the Provincial Sports Arena, the Hoa Binh Provincial Karate Federation organized the 2025 Hoa Binh Open ASUDO Karate Championship.
While modern sports like volleyball and football continue to grow in popularity, traditional folk games and ethnic sports remain a vibrant and essential part of cultural life among the Muong community in Hoa Binh province.
A total of 85 young players from across Hoa Binh province recently participated in the provincial Youth Table Tennis Tournament. Organised by the provincial Centre for Youth Activities, the event was part of activities to celebrate the 94th founding anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26, 1931 – 2025) and the 79th anniversary of Vietnam Sports Day (March 27, 1946 – 2025).
