(HBO) - Participating in the Athletics Tournament at the 6th Provincial Sports and Physical Training Festival, in 2018, Lac Thuy District Sports Team successfully won 4 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 1 bronze medal. With those achievements, Lac Thuy delegation showed a stronger development in the sport movement of the district than before.

Mr. Bui Van Hoa, Deputy Director of Lac Thuy Culture and Sport Center said that: Preparing to attend the 6th Provincial Sports and Physical Training Festival in 2018, Lac Thuy District successfully organized the 6th District Sports and Physical Training Festival in 2017, in which the percentage of communes and towns held 100% grass-roots sports festivals. There are 8 athletes of Lac Thuy district team participating in the athletic tournament at the Provincial Sports and Physical Training Festival, competing in almost all contents: Running at the distances of 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters; high jump; men and women long jump, etc. These are all outstanding athletes who have been selected from the 6th District Sports and Physical Training Festival in 2017. Before competing in the tournament, the District Culture and Sports Center had been training for a week to give the athlete the necessary skills to play with the best spirit and physical strength.

 

Among eight athletes participating in the tournament, besides the experienced athletes with much experience in playing such as Tran Son Quynh, Vu Hoang Hai, Trinh Thuy Linh, etc., there were also many young players, new athletes participating for the first time. This is a chance for them to show their fitness, flexibility as well as bravery when winning medals like the athletes: Do Duc Toan, Nguyen Hien Chi, Tran Trung Duc, etc.

 

Typically, the athlete Do Duc Toan won a gold medal in the men's 200 metre - running and a silver medal of men’s 400 metre - running. Sharing his achievements, Toan delightedly said: Currently I am a 11th grade pupil at Lac Thuy A High School. This is the first year I have played at the provincial competition. It is also a joy, bravery and responsibility for me to try my best to play well because of our tradition and unity to win the best prizes for the district. With 2 contents participating, I won a 20 - metre gold medal and the men's 400 metre silver medal, contributing to the team's overall achievement.

 

With two gold and silver medals of Toan, Tran Son Quynh also excellent demonstrated skills on the running race when won two gold medals of men’s 100 meter and long jump contents. In addition, other athletes also won a gold medal in women's 100 metres, a silver medal in women’s 400 metres, a silver medal in long jump and a bronze medal in men's 100 metres.

 

With the achievements of four gold medals, three silver medals and one bronze medal at the athletics tournament have contributed to the total medals of Lac Thuy district up to 12 gold medals, 7 silver medals and 3 bronze medals. Therefore, it ranked at the third about the total medals won of the 6th Provincial Sports and Physical Training Festival in 2018.

Mr. Bui Van Hoa, Deputy Director of Lac Thuy Cultural and Sports Center said: This is considered as one of the pretty impressive achievements of Lac Thuy sports in recent years and a motivation for Lac Thuy district to continue making efforts to promote sports and physical training development in both quantity and quality.
