The 60th National Cross-country Run and Marathon Tournament - Tien Phong (Vanguard) Newspaper Cup will kick off on March 24 in Vung Tau city, Ba Ria – Vung Tau province.

The tournament features the participation of
nearly 2,000 domestic and international athletes, including over 200
professional ones. More than 400
participants have been registered to compete in the marathon category.
This year’s event
will have many remarkable changes, including an electronic scoring system
through use of ‘time chips’ that will be attached to the serial number on each
athlete’s jersey.
In addition, in the
42km marathon event, the organising board will provide athletes with supporting
forms, such as energy gel, electrolyte water, fruit, and water supply points. Athletes
will have the opportunity to meet and share their inspiration for the marathon
run.
In terms of awards, in
addition to the medals engraved with the champions’ name for each event, many
other prizes worth a total of nearly VND300 million will be given to the
participants.
