At the opening ceremony, there were some parades to glorify the forces
such as Processions of National Flag, Sport Flag, palanquins of Uncle Ho’s
Portrait and the Competition’s Slogan, Red Flags and provincial teams of
athletes, referees and Muong Gong Artists. The traditional fire being processed

The chief central organizer made a speech to start the Competition and
emphasized that the Sport Competition for ethnics in Northern Area was first
held in Hoa Binh in 1996, after 10 times of organization, this competition has
become a traditional event to improve and develop the sport and physical
training movements of ethnics in quantity and quality.

stated clearly that: The 10th National Ethnic Sport Competition of Area
I includes more than 700
athletes of 16 provincial teams from Lao Cai, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Phu Tho,
Lang Son, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Bac Kan, Bac Giang, Yen Bai, Cao Bang, Thai
Nguyen, Ha Giang, Vinh Phuc, Hoa Binh and Ha Noi, joining in 8 subjects of football,
volleyball, marathon, crossbow shooting, Tu Lu - Mong traditional sport, tug of
war, rod pushing, Con throwing. The national ethnic sport competition is an
interesting and meaningful event for ethnic athletes and is held every two
years. With this competition, the athletes have chances to practice and
compete, exchange and share their experience, improve their awareness of sports
and physical training. In addition, it can promote the sport and physical
training movements among ethnic minorities, which can strengthen the unity of
ethnics people.
Especially, the highlight of the ceremony is the
co-performance of 500 Muong gong artists representing for thousands of
provincial artists. The performance with the topic "Hoa Binh, together with
ethnic minorities, towards the future” includes 3 chapters: Welcome to Hoa
Binh, Spirit of Martial Arts - Fitness for building the country; and Hoa Binh
Blossoms.
