(HBO) - In 2021, due to the impact of Covid-19 pandemics, the sports activities in the province are interrupted; the sports with high achivements and mass sports relatively quiet.

During the year, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has actively advised the Provincial People's Committee to effectively implement the State’s management in sports and physical activities; many decisions, plans and guiding documents have been promulgated; the implementation of the 7th provincial sports congress in 2022 has been guided... The implementation of the campaign "All people exercise their bodies following the great example of Unvle Ho” has been promoted. Thereby, it has been contributing to improving the physical health of the people, building a healthy cultural environment, repelling social evils and promoting the socio-economic development in the locality.

With the movement sports, many sports tournaments from the communal to provincial levels have had to be postponed due to the impact of Covid-19 epidemics over the past time. During the year, there were 5 sports tournaments at the provincial level, 28 ones at the district’s level and 166 ones at the communal level with the participation of nearly 31,700 athletes. Along with that, a number of sporting events have attracted the attention of the local people. They are the opening ceremony of the National Second Division Football Tournament and the first match between Hoa Binh Football Club and Hai Nam Football Club from Vinh Yen Vinh Phuc, and the first provincial semi-marathon in 2021…

Being identified as the foundation for the development of the sports and physical activities, the province has always paid attention focused on the mass sports over the past time. Despite many difficulties and challenges, the mass sports movement has also achieved many important results. There are 57,339 sports households, accounting for 34.2% of the total number of the households; the number of people regularly participating in sports practice is 292,118 people, accounting for 25.9% of the total population. In the province, there are 825 sports clubs at the grassroots operating regularly. 466 sport instructors have been trained and coached. Three training courses have been organized to foster the professional skills in sports, they hvae prepared for the 7th Provincial Sports Congress in 2022 for the cultural officials of the communes, the wards and the townships. 10 out of the 10 districts and the city have opened the training courses to foster the professional skills fro the instructors, the sports collaborators of the districts, the communes, the wards and the townships.

In recent years, the province's high-achievement sports has gradually affirmed its position in the national and regional sports arenas. In the school year of 2021 - 2022, 7 sports-talented classes (the provincial Gifted school for Coaching and Competitive Sports) have focused on improving the quality, signing contracts with 14 athletes to compete for the provincial team. Additionally, they have trained the sports teams to compete in 9 regional and national sports tournaments. During the year, the provincial sports teams won 29 medals (8 gold medals, 4 silver and 17 bronze ones).

Along with the achieved results, the socialization work of sports has been strengthened by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. They have coordinated with the appropriate departments and agencies, the provincial mass organizations, the People's Committees of districts and the city to mobilize the organizations and businesses in the locality to invest funds and participate in supporting the organization of many sports tournaments from the province to the grassroots levels. They have propagandized and mobilized the people, the organizations and the businesses to actively invest in building facilities, sponsoring the sports and physical activities, etc. they have also coordinated to establish Hoa Binh Football Club, participating in the National Second Division Football League and organizing the first Provincial Semi-Marathon, in 2021…

Mr. Dao Tien Cuong, the Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism says: "Towards the higher goals, in 2022 the Department will focus on implementing a number of key tasks: Directing the districts and the city well to organize the sports congresses at all levels, and the opening ceremony of the 7th Provincial Sports Congress in 2022; establishing a sports team to participate in the 9th National Sports Congress in 2022; well preparing the conditions for the facilities to successfully host the cycling event in the program of the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31)...”.
