Nguyen Ngoc Vu, who is responsible for cycling
at the Vietnam Sports Administration and also a member of the SEA Games 31
Organising Committee, said Southeast Asian countries are strong at downhill
biking, so the races had very high quality.
Downhill biking has a maximum time limit, and
the distance is often 1.5km long. Though the race distance was 2km in the
finals, the best result in this round was 3 minutes and 06.027 seconds, which
was much less than the limit of 5 minutes.
This was an encouraging sign showing the high
quality of athletes at this year’s Games, Vu noted.
