Nguyen Tien Dong, Deputy Director of the Cultural and Sports Centre of Luong Son district, said the number of young and outstanding athletes competing in this year’s tournament was higher than the previous year and most of them have better qualifications. Many runners have practiced thoroughly and have good physical strength, earning high results, notably Dinh Thi Nga (Hop Hoa commune), Nguyen Bach Kim (Cu Yen commune), Bui Thi Quyen (Cao Ram commune), Hoang Minh Bao (Hop Hoa commune), Ngo Thanh Quang (Tan Thanh commune), Bui Bich Ha (Thanh Lap commune), Dinh Thu Trang (Luong Son High School) and Bui Minh Duc (Nguyen Trai High School).

The district has maintained the annual traditional competition, affirming that the sport in particular and sport activities of local people in general are equally encouraged in all communes and towns. Especially, long-distance running is among eight events of the 8th Physical Training and Sports Grand Festival this year, therefore, the number of delegations and athletes will be higher, with better qualifications.

Through this competition, the centre will select the most prominent athletes to join a specialised team for further training and improved skills in order to gain high achievements at the 26th Hoa Binh Newspaper Cup traditional cross-country running competition./.
