(HBO) – Along with fruitful results in high-performance sports, in 2022, the mass sport and physical training movement of Hoa Binh left impressive imprints with the success of the seventh provincial Sports Festival, the biggest sports event of the province in the year. Meanwhile, positive progress was recorded in the mass sport and physical training movement which drew the participation of a large number of locals.

The success of the seventh provincial Sports Festival 2022 opened a new chapter
for the sustainable development of the public sport and physical training
movement. The event drew more than 1,400 athletes competing in 15 sports with
122 sets of medals.
Concluding the festival, the sport delegation of Tan Lac district came first,
followed by Lac Son district's delegation and Kim Boi district's delegation.
Since the beginning of 2022, the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and
Tourism had directed the implementation of the campaign to encourage local
residents to practice physical exercise following President Ho Chi Minh’s
example.
In the year, the province held more than 680 sports tournaments at all levels,
resulting in a positive change in the awareness and habit of local residents in
sports activities.
At the same time, the locality maintained the operations of 828 sport clubs at
the grassroots level. Currently, about 300,730 people, or 35.2% of the
province's total population, are engaging in regular sports activities.
Bui Thi Niem, Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and
Tourism, said that after two years of being impacted by COVID-19, in 2022,
after the pandemic is controlled, cultural, sports and tourism activities of
the province bustled again.
All sports delegations of the province recorded high results in regional and
national tournaments. Meanwhile, all targets in sports development of the
province were reached and exceeded, including the ratio of in sport families
and the number of people practicing physical exercise regularly./.
In recent years, Lac Thuy district has paid increasing attention to investing in cultural and sports infrastructure. These grassroots facilities have attracted a large number of residents to participate in recreational and cultural activities, physical training, and community engagement, contributing to the development of cultural life and the local socio-economic growth.
In recent years, the mass physical training and sports (PTS) movement in Hoa Binh province has developed strongly and spread widely. Regardless of age, gender or occupation, people actively participate in physical training, creating a vibrant and enthusiastic sports atmosphere within the community.
Recently, Hoa Binh’s athletes have continued to show strong performances at national-level competitions. Alongside elite athletes, several standout performers have emerged from grassroots sports movements, underlining the province’s growing sports culture.
From April 26 to 27, at the Provincial Sports Arena, the Hoa Binh Provincial Karate Federation organized the 2025 Hoa Binh Open ASUDO Karate Championship.
While modern sports like volleyball and football continue to grow in popularity, traditional folk games and ethnic sports remain a vibrant and essential part of cultural life among the Muong community in Hoa Binh province.
A total of 85 young players from across Hoa Binh province recently participated in the provincial Youth Table Tennis Tournament. Organised by the provincial Centre for Youth Activities, the event was part of activities to celebrate the 94th founding anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26, 1931 – 2025) and the 79th anniversary of Vietnam Sports Day (March 27, 1946 – 2025).
