Shooters Hoang Xuan Vinh, Tran Quoc Cuong and Nguyen Dinh Thanh brought home a bronze medal for Vietnam at the 10th Asian Airgun Championships in Wako, Japan, as they claimed third place overall in the men’s team 10m air pistol event with a total score of 1,728 points.

Quoc Cuong stood second in the qualification round, scoring 582 points, while Olympic champion Xuan Vinh and his teammate Dinh Thanh settled for the ninth and 15th positions with 575 and 571 points, respectively.

The combined score of 1,728 helped the threesome to secure the bronze medal for Vietnam, behind the gold medalists from India (1,735 points) and the silver medal winners from China (1,729 points).

In addition, with 582 points, Quoc Cuong made it through to the final where he faced off against seven shooters from China, Kazakhstan, India, and Iran for the individual title. However, the Vietnamese marksman could only take seventh place on aggregate with 135.8 points.

Earlier, another Vietnamese representative, Nguyen Duy Hoang, ranked 21st in the men’s 10m air rifle category, while Le Thi Linh Chi managed to finish seventh in the women’s 10m air pistol final with 133.8 points.

The 10th Asian Airgun Championships is taking place in Wako, Japan from December 6 to 12.
