As part of the activities to implement a project to promote gender equality and settle pressing issues related to women and children within the National Target Programme on boosting socio-economic development in ethnic minority-inhabited and mountainous areas in the 2021-2030 period, the VWU at all provincial and district levels in Hoa Binh have set up many models aiming to change the mindset and actions of the community, eliminating gender prejudice and stereotypes, with 529 models now underway.

The union has organised 176 training courses to enhance the knowledge and skills with association of gender equality for 11,228 trainees. A number of contests have also been held, including those on exploring knowledge of the Law on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control, and creating communications products to improve public awareness of gender equality for children from ethnic minority-inhabited and mountainous areas.

The contest for communicators of the community communication group model drew nine teems with nearly 100 members who represent the model in nine districts and Hoa Binh city.

At the event, the nine teams competed in three parts, including introduction, situation handling and theatricalisation, which highlighted knowledge, skills and experience in effectively popularising, promoting and dealing with issues regarding gender equality, thus contributing to bringing the Law on Gender Equality to all local officials, VWU members, local women and local residents.

Concluding the contest, the organising board presented the first prize to the VWU team of Cao Phong district, and the two second prizes to two teams from Lac Thuy and Yen Thuy districts. The three third prizes came to the VWU teams of Lac Son and Kim Boi districts and Hoa Binh city, while three consolidation prizes were awarded to those from Da Bac, Tan Lac, and Mai Chau districts.
