In the afternoon of June 6, the Party Committee, the People's Council, the People's Committee and the Fatherland Front of Lac Son district solemnly held a meeting to celebrate the 139th anniversary of the district's founding (1886–2025) and the 79th anniversary of the establishment of the district's Party Committee (1946–2025). There was the attendance of Mr. Bui Van Thang, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Mr. Quach Tat Liem, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Ms. Dang Bich Ngoc, the Deputy Head of the National Assembly Delegation of the province; as well as the former leaders of the province and district through various periods, who are the natives of the district.
A cultural performance was held to commemorate the 139th anniversary of the district's founding and the 79th anniversary of the founding of Lac Son district ‘sParty Committee.
Over its 139-year history of construction and development, Lac Son district has undergone multiple changes in the administrative boundaries and names. However, the local people of all ethnic groups have always upheld a spirit of unity, kindness, diligence and creativity in production as well as the bravery and resilience in overcoming natural challenges and fighting foreign invaders.
Entering the period of national construction and defense, especially during the 40 years of the country’s renovation process, the district’s Party Committee and the local people have promoted their glorious revolutionary tradition. Notably, during the 2020–2025 period, under the implementation of the Resolution of the 27th district’s Party Congress, the district's socio-economic development has made remarkable progress. The district has completed the program to eliminate makeshift and dilapidated housing for all 620 poor households. The poverty and near-poverty rates have declined by an average of over 4% per year. The material and spiritual lives of the people have continually improved. The district's average annual economic growth rate over five years has exceeded 12%, and by 2024, per capita income reached 65 million VND. Eleven communes have met the criteria for new-style rural areas, and the district has become a standout example in attracting investment within the province.
In addition, the quality of healthcare and education has steadily improved. In the district, there are 29 nationally standardized schools, and 11 out of the 24 communes and towns have met the national health criteria. The national defense and security posture has been firmly built and strengthened. The leadership role of the Party organizations, the state administrative management and the mass mobilization efforts of the Fatherland Front and political-social organizations have all been enhanced.
Seventy-nine years ago, in March 1946, the first Party cell in Lac Son was established with just three members. Through 27 congresses, the district’s Party Committee now has over 8,820 members, operating across 65 grassroots-level Party cells and organizations. In 2024, the Party Committee and the local people were honored to receive the Third-Class Labor Medal awarded by the President.
In the warm and emotional atmosphere of the meeting, the former district’s leaders and representatives of the younger generation shared heartfelt reflections. Mr. Hoang Đuc Chinh, the Secretary of the district’s Party Committee, emphasized in his speech: "The gathering to celebrate the 139th anniversary of the district's founding marks the conclusion of a historic chapter. Lac Son district has fulfilled its historic mission with distinction. Following the conclusion of district-level operations, eight new communes will be established, each reflecting the historical, geographical, and cultural characteristics of its region. With the absolute confidence in the leadership of the Party and a bright future for Vietnamese nation, the Party Committee and the people of all ethnic groups are determined to uphold and further promote the patriotic revolutionary tradition, the cultural identity and the spirit of the people of Lac Son, trying to contribute to the country's development in this era of national advancement”.
