The People’s Committee of Hoa Bình province convened its monthly meeting in a hybrid format on June 17, connecting with district and city offices via videoconference to review economic progress and address pressing development issues.

Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Bui Duc Hinh delivers the closing speech.

A report presented at the session revealed that the province’s gross regional domestic product (GRDP) grew by an estimated 9.99% in the first half of 2025, surpassing the national average and meeting the province’s full-year target. The industrial and construction sector led with a 17.15% surge, followed by services at 6.47% and agro-forestry-fisheries at 3.19%.

The committee tackled 17 key issues, focusing on finance, public investment, natural resources, and forest land conversion for infrastructure projects.

Discussions centred on refining the 2025 provincial budget to address emerging needs, with delegates urging tighter oversight of official development assistance (ODA) disbursements, resettlement zone investments, and inter-regional transportation projects. Clear accountability was assigned to each sector and locality.

A major proposal involved converting forest land for two major projects: a Korean ODA-funded transport and irrigation connectivity initiative in Hoa Binh and an inter-commune road linking Cha Day hamlet in Mai Chau district with My hamlet in Tan Lac district.

Other agenda items included plans to build a new Hoang Van Thu specialised high school, invest in a cancer radiotherapy system for the provincial General Hospital, and revise the 2021-2025 medium-term public investment plan for the 10th time.

In his closing speech, Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Bui Duc Hinh called for accelerated, decisive action and better coordination across all levels of authorities. Priority areas include speeding up public investment disbursements, advancing national target programmes, and preparing for commune-level administrative restructuring.

He also placed strong emphasis on social welfare, particularly the urgent need to eliminate temporary and dilapidated housing. Localities must urgently complete a thorough review of poor and near-poor households, as well as families with meritorious service who still live in substandard conditions, and develop action plans in June 2025 to ensure no one is left behind.
