In response to late President Ho Chi Minh’s call for planting trees, the public security department holds the tree planting festival every year.

Speaking at the festival launching ceremony, Director of the department Pham Hong Tuyen asked the whole public security force to take the lead in planting trees and forests while improving the combat against deforestation and wildfire prevention. He told each police officer to play an active role and encourage their families and other people to plant trees and protect forests.

Growing trees and forests must bring about practical benefits, suit local landscape, and be associated with environmental protection, he added.

In his speech, Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Tran Dang Ninh highly valued the department’s maintenance of the annual activity, as well as its contributions to ensuring political security, social order and safety, and environmental protection, thus greatly helping to promote local socio-economic development.

He particularly applauded Hoa Binh police’s efforts in the crime crackdown to ensure safety for the freshly finished Lunar New Year holiday (Tet). The official also asked them to continue following President Ho Chi Minh’s teachings for police.

After the ceremony, the provincial leaders and police officers planted 30 flamboyant and "nhoi” (Bischofia javanica) trees.
