(HBO) – Hoa Binh province’s war veterans association and the People’s Committee of Mai Chau district jointly launched the New Year tree planting festival in Mai Hich commune on January 26, or the 11th day of the lunar New Year.
The event was attended by
Tran Dang Ninh, Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman
of the provincial People’s Council; representatives from the Party Committee, People’s
Council and People’s Committee of Mai Chau district; as well as from the war veterans associations of
Hoa Binh city and other districts; and locals.

in planting trees in Cha Lang hamlet, Mai Hich commune, Mai Chau district.
In recent years,
the Party Committee, the People’s Council and the People’s Committee of Mai
Chau district have directed departments, sectors, organisations and schools in
the district to actively participate in tree-planting and forest protection movements.
The local authority has worked to protect 23,000 ha of natural forests and 977
ha of planted forests.
Mai Chau
district newly planted hundreds of hectares of forests, and thousands of fruits
and wood trees. Due attention was also paid to protecting the forest.
The tree planting is a meaningful movement, significantly contributing to protecting
the environment and natural landscape, and raising public awareness and responsibility
of the significance of forest protection. It also contributes to ensuring
security and order, and promoting socio-economic development in the locality.

At the ceremony, the
province’s war veterans association launched the "Exemplary veteran” emulation
movement” in 2018 with the targets: all members of the association firmly
maintain political ideology; and resolutely fight misconceptions,
"peaceful evolution" scheme and "self-evolution” and "self-transformation”.
The association plans to admit at least 1,500 new members, while maintaining
and promoting movements to mutually support among the war veterans, thus
helping them escape from poverty and improve living conditions.
Charitable and gratitude activities will be also enhanced in the year. The
association also pledged to work to improve the quality of its operation.
Right after the launching ceremony, local officials, youths and people of Mai
Hich commune planted 2,000 trees in Cha Lang hamlet, Mai Hich commune, Mai Chau

On November the first, the Provincial People's Committee held a meeting for the reports on the progress of preparations to hold the Ceremony to receive the Certificate of the special national relic ranking for Trai Cave, the Stone Roof of Vanh village (Lac Son district) and the Opening Ceremony of the Culture - Tourism Week of Hoa Binh province in 2024. The Hoa Binh Steering Committee for the organisation of the fourth provincial congress of ethnic minority groups held a meeting on October 29 to discuss the progress of preparations for the congress. Dinh Cong Su, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee and head of the Steering Committee chaired the event. The congress is slated for November 14-15 at the provincial Cultural Palace, expecting 250 official delegates.
Despite a low starting point, the mountainous district of Mai Chau has effectively implemented the National Target Programme on New Rural Development, resulting in significant improvements in people’s life and rural look.
Over the past years, Hoa Binh has systematically implemented the one-stop-shop and interconnected one-stop-shop mechanisms in processing administrative procedures, contributing to improving the efficiency of the work while promoting online public services.
