(HBO) - The Hoa Binh provincial Department of Transport and contractors held a ceremony on November 4 to start the construction of Hoa Binh 2 Bridge in Hoa Binh city.


 Officials of the provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, along with the investor, mark the start of work on Hoa Binh 2 Bridge.

Hoa Binh 2 Bridge will link Thinh Minh wharf in Thinh Lang ward with the intersection of Den Bridge in Dong Tien ward. It has the total investment of 590.81 billion VND (about 25.4 million USD), funded by the local budget and other legal sources.

The structure will have the total length of 780 metres, including 497.05 metres of the bridge and 282.95 metres of access roads at the two ends, with its main span 24 metres wide. The maximum designed speed on the bridge is 60 km per hour.

The project is invested by the provincial Department of Transport and will be built by the Trung Chinh Trading and Construction Co. Ltd, the Lam Viet Construction Investment Co. Ltd, and the Hanoi Trading, Electrical Technique and Construction Co. Ltd.


Hoa Binh 2 Bridge aims to connect the two banks of the Da River, helping to ease congestion on Hoa Binh 1 Bridge, minimise traffic accidents, and meet transport demand. It is also meant to help complete local transport infrastructure and fuel socio-economic development in Hoa Binh city.

The facility, a key project of Hoa Binh province, is scheduled to be built in 33 months. Due to the project’s importance, the provincial People’s Committee has listed it in the medium-term public investment plan for 2016 – 2020.

Addressing the groundbreaking ceremony, Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Bui Van Khanh said to ensure the project is carried out on schedule, relevant departments, sectors, the People’s Committee of Hoa Binh city and contractors need to deal with difficulties and problems arising during the construction in a timely manner, especially those relevant to site clearance.

He also asked them to implement the project promptly, keep a close watch on its progress and quality, ensure safety and environmental hygiene during construction, and create favourable conditions for contractors so as to complete the structure ahead of schedule, thereby helping to develop a modern Hoa Binh city./.
