(HBO) - The model of "Safe village for women and children” established in Lu village, Phu Thanh commune (Lac Thuy) is the pilot model of the provincial Women's Union in implementing the Project "Propaganda, education, advocacy, supporting women to participate in solving some issues related to women in the period of 2017 - 2027”.

The members of the "Safe village for women and children” model in Lu village have positively been responded to the propaganda activities to prevent and control drowning for children organized by the Women's Union of Phu Thanh Commune (Lac Thuy).

The model was established and put into operation in November 2019, with 215 participants, including 89 male members and 126 members are officers, members and women. After the implementation period, the model has had practical activities, improving knowledge for the members, the local people, creating a safe and healthy living environment for the women and the children. Up to now, 10 more members have joined the model.

Characterized by one of the three extremely difficult villages in the commune and in the face of many parents working away from home, children face many risks of unsafety ... Therefore, the model has been established and operated following the motto: Building the model members into the active elements in propaganda, counselling and direct support of issues related to prevention and control of domestic violence, abusing women and children, preventing and fighting against child marriage and inbreeding marriage, preventing and controlling malnutrition, health care for women and children, school violence, hygiene and food safety, environmental sanitation ... It has contributed to the locality to well implement the National Program of building New rural areas, creating a safe environment for women and children in the area.

Initially, the model has created a spread in the behavior, building the cultural lifestyle of the people. joining the model, the members have been fostered the knowledge related to preventing domestic violence and children, encouraging the members, the women and the local People to share unsafe situations, receiving comments and information related to women and children to promptly handle from the members and the communities Especially, in the recent peak of preventing and controlling Covid-19 epidemic, the members of the model received 30 gifts, 1,200 free cloth masks from the Women's Union of the province and district, and 1.8 tons of rice and many gifts and necessities of the district’s departments and the Women's Union of the commune.

The implementation time of the model is not long and there are still many difficulties in the operation process. However, the awareness of the members and the local people about the safety for women and children has been significantly improved. There has been no violence against women and children in the village. 100% of the children in the school age are going to school and being cared for. From the effectiveness of the model, the other associations have also actively propagated and encouraged the families to plant, care for the flower routes and to keep the village roads clean, green, and beautiful...
