The history of the struggle for independence and freedom for the homeland has engraved many victories of the army and the people of Quyet Thang region, including the excellent victory of Yen Luong-Phu Lam (the former Phu Luong commune) guerrilla team in the battle against the enemy using Can wine with Ngon leaves. That was on October 30th, 1948, the French colonialists mobilized a battalion to focus on the Yen Luong - Phu Lam and they decided to destroy it with the resistance forces. The soldiers and the guerrillas had closely coordinated, keeping the factor of secret and surprise. At first the enemy was cautiously approaching and they did not see any reaction, so they subjectively moved deep into the area of Ray hamlet.

The heroic tradition of the former commune of Phu Luong is pride and the driving force for Quyet Thang commune to promote today. The chairman of the People's Committee of the commune, Mr. Bui Xuan Tien says: Overcoming the difficulties and the problems in the first days and months of the merger, all the activities of the commune have been put into order up till now. It is solidarity that has brought this result. Especially, since the Second Congress of Commune Party Committee, the term 2020 - 2025, under the leadership of the Party Committee, the whole political system has been agreed to bring the resolution into life. In the economic field, the people have actively changed the structure of the crops, the plants and the animals. They have taken the initiative in improving the mixed garden to grow fruit trees and Michelia tonkinensis. Many households have expanded their husbandry with the models of raising chickens on the hill, backyard chickens, mountain goats, sows, porkers ... The commune has been focusing on developing Phu Luong paddy chili, Lac Son fresh chicken (The Cooperative of Mr. Bui Van Hue, Party Helmet 2) for the implementation of OCOP Program ... The industrial production - handicraft, the construction and the service have been gradually expanded, contributing to the job creation right in the locality.

In addition, they have been focusing in investing the infrastructure. There have been positive changes in culture – society and the people's lives have been gradually improved. The security defense has always been stable and steady. In defense work and the local military, the commune will focus on building and consolidating the entire people's defense posture in association with the people's security posture. Every year, the district’s military training reaches 70 - 75% of the number of the army. The mobilized militia and self-defense force have always been strengthened, meeting requirements in the new situation ... The initial success after merging 3 communes has helped the officials and the people in Quyet Thang commune celebrate the Independence Day more meaningfully this year.
