(HBO) – A workshop on the situation and potential of developing rural agriculture-based tourism models was recently held in HoaBinh province. The event was chaired by leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the provincial authorities.

The workshop on the situation and potential of developing rural agriculture-based tourism models.

As of the late 2019, there were 34,348 agriculture farms nationwide. A small number of agriculture farms engaged in tourism activities and most of them do not offer overnight stay services.

HoaBinh is now home to over 88,400ha of agricultural land, including 4,700ha of citrus cultivation land, more than 6,500ha of purple sugarcane and cane, and over 11,000ha of vegetables of various kinds.

The province formed key farm produce groups with own trademarks. Concentrated agriculture production zones and large-scale farms provide huge potential to develop rural agriculture-based tourism.

At the event, delegates suggested raising public awareness of rural agriculture-based tourism activities at farms and cooperatives, perfecting legal framework and planning for farms, agriculture cooperatives in combination with tourism activities, and enhancing training of tourism skills for farms, cooperatives and residents. At the same time, it is necessary to build policies and mechanisms for economic development of farms, cooperatives in tandem with rural agriculture-based tourism.

Speaking at the event, the Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism said for the harmonious and sustainable development of rural agriculture-based tourism, it is a need to give priority to resources, attach importance to infrastructure investment, develop human resources, popularise tourism and tourism products, enhance inter-sectoral coordination and further improve active and drastic role of localities as well as quality and effective involvement of enterprises.

He stressed that the development of rural agriculture-based tourism model contributes to reshaping a green and clean farming sector, with developing tourism not only for economic benefits but also for national pride. In particular, it is necessary to form collaboration among policymakers, travel agencies and enterprises to further spread the model.

Later, a ceremony was held to sign a cooperation programmeon building cultural life, developing rural tourism, preserving and upholding cultural values in new-style rural development for the 2021-2025 period between the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism./.
