(HBO) - Cao Phong district of Hoa Binh has made big strides forward after over 10 years of carrying out the national target programme of building new-style rural areas, giving a facelift to its rural area and infrastructure and significantly improving local people’s lives.

So far, four out of the nine communes in the district have been recognised as new-style rural areas, one residential area as exemplary new-style rural areas and seven gardens as model gardens. To realise the set target, since the start of this year, the People’s Committee of the district instructed communes to devise plans and roadmaps for achieving criteria for a new-style rural area. This year, the district will mobilise all possible sources to help Bac Phong commune win the title. The most disadvantaged commune of Thach Yen is hoped to receive the recognition by 2024.

Cao Phong has rolled out synchronous solutions to bolster production, raise income for rural dwellers and encourage the application of science-technology so as to increase output, quality and ensure food safety.

The district also creates the best conditions for agricultural firms and cooperatives to operate while fostering effective partnership models in agriculture. In allocating funding, priority is given to supporting cooperatives and building models of production chain to create jobs and improve income for the rural population, for sustainable poverty reduction and social welfare.

Chairman of the Cao Phong People’s Committee Quach Van Ngoan said that the district is working to gradually satisfy the four remaining criteria which are transportation, irrigation, health care-culture-education, and environment./.
