People in Doi village, Ba Hang Doi town (Lac Thuy) are planting trees on both sides of the road, creating a green - clean - beautiful landscape.

There are 217 households with 902 people in the viloage. Visiting the general garden of Mr. Vu Van Truong, we cannot help but admire with a total area of over 6,000 m2, of which 4,000 m2 are planted with red flesh dragon fruit. Mr. Truong says: "Responding to the movement of building new rural areas, renovating the mixed gardens, growing crops of high economic value, my family has switched to growing pomelo and red dragon fruit with 500 sets, giving the income of 600-700 thousand VND every set a year.

Mr. Nguyen Van Bong, the Secretary of Doi hamlet, says: Being selected to build the the model of new rural residential area, we have defined this as an honor but also a great responsibility. Implementing the leadership and direction of the Party Committee, the Communal People's Committee, the Party Committee, the village’s Party cell has proactively been formulating the resolutions, implementing the plans, assigning tasks to the cadres, the party members, the front working committees and the specific branches of unions, striving to complete the construction of the model of new rural residential area by 2020. 

The Party cell has determined that the cadres and the party members must be exemplary pioneers. Through the propaganda and the advocacy, the people have actively responded, contributed the working days, donated the residential land and field land to build the infrastructure projects, maintained the hygiene of village roads, lanes, made traffic and waterways, maintained and repaired the degraded roads, installed the lighting systems on village roads. They have mobilized over 95% of people to buy health insurance, boldly to develop economy to improve income and life. With the unanimity of the cadres, the party members and the people, Doi village has become the typical residential area of the province in the period of 2018 - 2020.

 

After 2 years of implementing the construction of the model of new rural residential area, Doi village has completed 11 out of the 11 criteria with the total implementation cost of nearly 1.2 billion VND (the State supported 349 million VND, the fund of the residential area was over 600 million VND, and the local people contributed over 192 million dongs). The local people donated 360 m2 of land of all kinds and thousands of working days to build the rural roads and the welfare works. The face of the new rural area, and the material and spiritual lives of people have changed markedly. Up to now, Doi Residential Area has built 53 gardens, of which 47 ones have qualified, 94% of the households have green fences and flowers to beautify the landscape. The capita income is over 47 million dongs a year, there are still 4 poor households in the whole village.

The appearance of the village wears a "new shirt”. The local people have actively embellished the houses, the auxiliary works, protecting the environment, developing economy of the household, changing their thinking from self-sufficiency to production with the direction of goods connecting to the market. The awareness of the people has been improved, the love of the village has been more and more stable. This is a bright spot in Lac Thuy district, which is popular for replication on a large scale in the area.
