(HBO) – The People’s Committee of Hoa Binh has sent a document to the Prime Minister proposing the expansion of the Hoa Binh-Hoa Lac road in the public-private partnership (PPP) form.

Under the proposal, more than 50 percent of the total investment of the project will come from the State budget.

The project on the construction of Hoa Binh-Hoa Lac road and upgrade of the Xuan Mai-Hoa Binh section on the National Highway No.6 has been put into operation since October 10, 2018. Its BOT contract was signed between the Ministry of Transport and the investor.

The 25.7km-long road has two lanes with a total width of 12m and surface width of 11m. The expansion of the Hoa Lac-Hoa Binh road in the 2021-2025 period is significant to step by step synchronise the Hanoi-Hoa Binh-Son La-Dien Bien highway system, aiming to connect Hanoi with northwestern localities.

The expanded project will start from Km No.0 of the current Hoa Lac-Hoa Binh road (crossing the Hoa Lac- Vietnam National Villages for Ethnic Culture And Tourism road in Yen Bai commune, Ba Vi district of Hanoi) and end at Km No.23+040 on the Hoa Lac-Hoa Binh road and National Highway No.6 crossroad.

The total expanded length is 23.04km, of which about 6.37km are in Hanoi and the rest in Hoa Binh. It is designed to have six lanes and a width of 80-110m. Total investment for the project is about 8.16 trillion VND (359 million USD).

Th provincial People’s Committee proposed that the Prime Minister allow the use of local budget for the project and assign the committee to take the responsibility for implementing the project to construct the Hoa Lac-Hoa Binh road and upgrade the Xuan Mai-Hoa Binh section of the National Highway No.6./.
