(HBO) - The rich green is stretching across the countryside; the high-rise buildings, the tile-roofed houses in the countryside are growing up next to each other; the infrastructure of electricity - road - school - station has been invested and built; the system of trade & service has been developed... That is the appearance of Muong Dong homeland (Kim Boi) today with the strong changes.

Serena Resort in Kim Boi (Sao Bay commune) - the highlight of Muong Dong tourism.

Not long ago, we had the opportunity to return to Xuan Thuy longan area, and visited model of growing fruit trees of Mr. Bui Van Luc’s family, former Secretary of the Party Committee of Son Thuy commune (now it is Xuan Thuy commune) - the first family doing business well in Muong Dong. Mr Luc’s family is not only getting rich, but he also helps the people in the hamlet and commune with the seedlings and the production methods. The people in the commune said that in the 1990s, there were no roads, no electricity to all of the hamlets, and people's lives were extremely hard.

Mr. Luc was the person to bring Huong Chi longan to Xuan Thuy. This was the first time that there was an area growing longan with the application of the intensive farming techniques with 2.5 ha in the commune. Along with the guidelines and policies of the Party, the resolutions of all levels showing and opening the way, the commune's area for growing longan has increasingly been expanding, making this tree key and spearhead in the local cultivation and production. The life of Xuan Thuy people has gradually changed. The people believe in the Party, cling to the land and getting rid of poverty in their homeland.

Along with Xuan Thuy, the long strides of agriculture in the rural areas throughout the countryside have made great changes in Muong Dong. At an old and rare age, Mrs. Bui Thi Nganh from Vo hamlet, Kim Boi commune has witnessed many steps to overcome difficulties and the transformations of this land. She recalled: About ten years ago, the people only focused on growing rice, however, many crops with high potential and economic value have been replaced now. The area of growwing purple sugarcane has been expanded in many communes such as Vinh Tien and Tu Son. The district has built and developed two product brands: Son Thuy longan and Muong Dong oranges. The chain of the production links between the enterprises, the cooperatives and the people has remained effective. It includes a chain of citrus fruit trees of nearly 150 ha every year in Tu Son, Binh Son, Vinh Tien, Du Sang, Kim Lap communes; the production chain of medicinal plants of 23 ha a year in Hung Son commune; VietGAP vegetable chain of 100 ha in Du Sang commune... Some new models such as growing bananas and pepper in Kim Boi commune with an area of 3 ha, planting more than 1 ha of tea with yellow flowers in Nuong Dam commune have been effective...

The achievements in the field of industry and handicrafts of the locality are also remarkable with an average growth rate of over 10%. The manufactured products have well met the market demand, in which, the products of mineral water, the agricultural processing, the handicrafts, processing goods for consumption have affirmed their foothold and have strong competition in the market. There are more than 200 enterprises and cooperatives in the area. The operation of the enterprises has made important contributions to the local socio-economic development. The cooperatives have been mainly operating on the agricultural services. Some cooperatives have actively been participating in the value chain of the agricultural products. Many products of the cooperatives have met the OCOP standards with 3 or 4 stars.

Taking advantage of the hot mineral water, which is considered as "the white gold”, the district has invested in developing tourism and service. Concretizing the orientations of the provincial plan for the tourism development and adhering to the Resolution of the district’s Party Congress at the same time, Kim Boi has built a project for the district tourism development for the period of 2017 - 2020, now they continue developing the project for the period of 2021 - 2025. With the specific actions, Muong Dong is "heating up” as many enterprises and investors have paid attention to researching, surveying and implementing the projects for high-quality tourism investment in the area. Vingroup, Sun Group and many graet enterprises have researched and surveyed the eco-tourism and urban tourism. Asia-Pacific joint Stock Company (belonging to APEC Group) has bought the entire project of an enterprise that registered for investment but they did not implement, to implement a project for a high-class resort with a 5- standard hotel at Mo Da hamlet, Bo town.

With many effective solutions, Kim Boi is still a safe destination in the complicated development of Covid-19 epidemics. The number of visitors in 9 months was estimated at 110,500 turns, the total revenue was 133,600 million dongs, reaching 53.2% of the plan and it was equal to 141.3% over the same period.
