(HBO) – On the occasion of the 75th founding anniversary of the Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRC) (November 23, 1946-2021), the VRC Central Committee has sent a letter extending best regards and wish to officials, members, Red Cross volunteers, youth and juniors.

The provincial Vietnam Red Cross Society presents gifts and offers support in hospital fee to poor patients in the Hoa Binh General Hospital.

In its letter, the VRC noted that in the past 75 years, in each period, officials, members, volunteers and Red Cross youth and juniors have worked hard to overcome difficulties and challenges. Their efforts have been recognised by the Party and State through the presentation of noble awards. This is the pride of a humanitarian organisation with a long history of inheriting and promoting the nation’s humanitarian tradition, and a growing organisation that is affirming its key role in the country’s humanitarian activities for the happiness of all people, especially the poor and disadvantaged groups in the society.

Bui Quoc Viet, Chairman of the provincial VRC said that so far, the activities of the VRC and its chapters in localities have been diversified, targeting the poor, disadvantaged and disabled people in the society.

To date, the provincial VRC has had 384 staff 1,981 chapters in 10 districts and cities and 202 communes, with 41,531 members and 2,210 volunteers. The VRC at all levels have well performed social security work in the locality by visiting and offering gifts, cash, rice, necessities, meals and support in houses repairing and building, breeding cows, scholarships and hospital fee to thousands of needy people.

During the movement of "Tet for the poor and victims of Agent Orange/dioxin” in 2021, the VRC at all levels presented 24,885 gifts to the needy at total cost of over 11.3 billion VND, while giving support to 274 people facing extremely difficult situation, and presenting gifts and necessities to 13,261 people suffering fatal diseases and COVID-19 hit labourers with total value of 2.8 billion VND.

Since the beginning of this year, the provincial VRC and its local chapters have coordinated with organisations and donors to repair and build 34 houses for poor households in districts with total cost of 1.4 billion VND. It has handed over two clean water works and 5km rural road to mountainous communes with total value of 3.4 billion VND.

The Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation has organised 17 blood donation days engaging 13,624 donors, during which 9,478 blood units were collected. In support of COVID-19 prevention and control, the province’s VRC has given nearly 120,000 medical masks, thousands of medical protective suits, hand sanitizer and many other necessities to households in lockdown areas and frontline forces in the epidemic fight.

Affirming the role of as a bridge connecting humanitarian and charity activities, the VRC at all levels in Hoa Binh has continued to unite and exert joint efforts to successfully completing all tasks, spreading humanity values to the community, bringing joy and happiness to people facing difficult situation and vulnerable groups in the society./.
