Orange has brought about
high economic efficiency for Cao Phong district. It was the province’s first
agricultural product receiving geographical indication (GI) protection in 2014.
Last year, the International Intellectual Property Institute recognised the
fruit as one of the ten most popular Vietnamese trademarks, creating a
breakthrough in the province’s agricultural development orientation.
Cao Phong now has 2,800ha of citrus trees with a forecast output of 33,000 tonnes valued at around 600 billion VND (26.4 million USD). The local orange varieties are planted and cared following VIETGAP standards, ensuring quality and food safety and hygiene.

Speaking at the event, Quang applauded efforts by Cao Phong district and relevant departments in organising the festival honouring and promoting orange and boosting trade promotion. He asked the district to review the citrus development planning and carry out measures to maintain and develop the orange trademark sustainably.
